As we age, cellular energy levels decline and the deficiencies in skin energy can result in premature skin ageing. By providing glycogen, the cells are given energy to use whenever it is needed and wherever it is needed, resulting in many beneficial effects for the skin. However, glycogen is usually isolated from animal sources. In this article a new plant-based glycogen is described, isolated from a special non-GMO sweetcorn, which is chemically identical to glycogen stored in animal cells. In vitro, the phytoglycogen was able to stimulate ATP production and cell metabolism, resulting in increased hyaluronic acid and collagen production. Clinically the topical application of the phytoglycogen provided fast and longlasting hydration effects, led to antiageing benefits and boosted the effects of hyaluronic acid. In summary, the safe and natural phytoglycogen is a multi-purpose cosmetic active, yielding excellent benefits for the skin. Note de contenu : - Glycogen : Densely packed energy for skin rejuvenation

SénolyseIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : A revolutionary anti-aging concept, senolytics, has entered the medical world. Demonstrating remarkable results in early trials, senolytics can provoke rejuvenation in various tissues by specifically eliminating senescent cells without harming healthy cells. This concept has now been adapted for the cosmetic industry, by targeting and eliminating senescent fibroblasts in aged and photo-aged skin. To optimally complete skin rejuvenation however, the eliminated fibroblasts must be replaced with new cells - a feat that can be achieved by the activation of dermal stem cells. This revolutionary idea has been realized with the innovative ingredient concept SenoCellTecTM. Régénération (biologie)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Ageing and metabolic disorders such as diabetes are key drivers that can lead to skin barrier disruption. Despite the increasing demand for cosmetic treatments for old/diabetic skin, current options are limited and often include occlusive formulations. A major characteristic of a disrupted skin barrier is a defective calcium gradient in the epidermis. Therefore, replenishing the aged/diabetic skin’s calcium stores with topical calcium could be a potential therapeutic approach. Both in vitro and clinical studies have shown, that a novel calcium ion (Ca2+) vector system enables the successful delivery of bioavailable Ca2+ ions into the skin, aiding not only in recovery but also in protection of the skin from SLS stress. This highlights the use of this vector system as a new and superior approach to treat a damaged barrier present in diabetic, aged, or atopic skin. SénolyseIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Cellular senescence, a condition of irreversible cell cycle arrest, can lead to inflammation and accelerated ageing of tissues, including the skin. To prevent this, current strategies aim specifically to eliminate the senescent cells, or ‘zombie cells’, by means of senolytics. Sensitive scalps are a prominent problem and one potential treatment option is the use of senolytics in scalp care. As with the skin, zombie cells in the scalp can cause local inflammation, leading to dry and irritated scalps, so clearing these cells could promote a healthy scalp. An extract from the leaves of the Swiss Alpine rose was found to have strong senolytic activity in fibroblasts. In a placebo-controlled clinical study, the extract further demonstrated a significant soothing effect on sensitive scalps. This study firstly highlights the positive impact of senolytics in scalp health and care. Note de contenu : - Nature' senolytic
