Mass and heat exchange, frequently accomplished with chemical reactions inside the film and across interfaces, phase transformations, etc. spontaneous process shape of coating structure and predetermine coating properties. Control of film formation, allowing realization of entire potential coating performance, predetermined by the composition of the paint used, requires adequate picture of the major colloid processes involved. This paper is for colloid aspects of film formation in homophase binders.

Titre : Colloid chemistry, part X : film formation on active substrates Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Vladimir V. Verkholantsev, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Article en page(s) : p. 150-157 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Substrates play an important role in the coating triad paint-application method-substrate. Ground selection of a paint composition and technological pathway to coat the given substrate must always include a consideration of its features that is all possible interactions between the paint and the substrate material. Methods to apply organic coatings, in particular waterborne compositions, which imply active participation of coated substrates in film forming processes, normally provide thus obtained coatings with extended service properties. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Heterogeneous structures are very common in coatings. Majority of coatings are multicoat systems, built up with a few layers of different materials even comprising a greater number of open, as well as locked and developed interfaces. Typically decorative, protective and special coatings are based on homogeneous polymer matrixes, however the use of heterogeneous polymer matrixes (polymer/polymer composites) for industrial coatings is expanding. Coatings filled with pigments and extenders are essentially heterogeneous and possess many features of composites. Note de contenu : - macro-heterogeneous coating structures

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Powder paints, which employ air as a carrier component, are an alternative to liquid paints. Despite of a few decades of aspiration regarding their sharp growth on account of conventional solvent-based paints, their proportion is still relatively small due to the fact that their application is associated with a few limitations, the main arise from heat-induced film forming process and requirements for specific application technique. However, this section of polymer coatings continuously enjoys stable expansion to new fields of application, being sufficiently commercial, durable on service and environmentally friendly.
