The stress-strain and fracture behaviour were found to be different from that of untanned collagen fibres, whereas the plastic set showed only marginal differences. The morphology of the fractured ends of the fibres tested at different strain rates was studied using scanning electron microscopy. An attempt has been made to clarify the different patterns of the cross-linked collagen fibres. Grafting was undertaken at various concentration levels of the binary mixture. The surface morphology of these grafted films was studied using scanning electron microscopy. The morphology of samples, stretched up to 10 and 20 % levels, was also studied. The compatibility of the ungrafted polymer with that of grafted casein decreases when the concentration of the former is increased.
