Résumé : |
The scratch resistance of UV curable 100% formulations, dual cure and water-based dual cure systems was evaluated and compared to a conventional 2 pack polyurethane coating as well as an experimental siloxane hybride coating. The scratch resistance crucially depends on crosslink density of the uppermost microns of the coating. Since in radiation curing the air inhibition effect plays a major role for the curing of the surface, curing conditions to reduce the air inhibition effect have been evaluated. It has been shown that the scratch resistance can be considerably improved if the exposure was done under inert conditions or high initiator contents. |
Note de contenu : |
Aliphatic urethane acrylate predestinated for UV curing / Simulation of mechanical stress / Measuring data deliver friction coefficient / Slow recovery at room temperature / Recovery as a result of thermodynamic restoring force / Minor reduction of oxygen support UV curing / Nitrogen atmosphere : lower inhibitor necessary / Scratch resistance of siloxane coatings achievable / Three- dimensional application needs dual curing / Avoid phase separation / Dual curing of water-borne coatings : a more complex process |
