Résumé : |
Quantitative differences in the composition and structure of animal skin are significant. Even collagen, considered to be its most consistent component, shows characteristic chemical differences. Therefore, it is necessary to check the usefulness of the tanning methods for one type of skin before using them for others.
The purpose of the work discussed below was to check whether the method for enzymatic dehairing, elaborated and successfully used for pigskins on a commercial scale, may be used also for other kinds of skins. Calfskins were chosen as a subject to compare.
Calfskins from animals about one month old were sujbected to testing. The tests had a practical aspect in respect of environmental protection and the reclamation of hair which is valuable for felt production. |
