Lac varnishes - Water soluble lac varnishes were prepared using ammonia, morpholine, triéthanolamine and borax. The varnishes were treated with 3 %, 4 % et 5 % urea as well as thiourea on the weight of shellac. The films of the varnishes developed on mild steel panels and glass slides were baked at 100 +- 2°C in oven for 90 minutes. Films properties like water resistance, impact resistance, scratch hardness, flexibility and gloss were studied. An appreciable improvement in the properties of the varnishes were observed. No adverse effect of water was noticed on the films of the varnishes |
