Matériaux hybridesIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : This paper describes a series of investigations specifically designed to evaluate commercially-available bio-sourced sandwich materials combining thermoset-based resin matrices, natural fibres and cork cores, intended for marine structures. The aim was, first, to evaluate the properties of these materials with respect to currently-used marine composites in order to examine equivalent dimensions for different boat structures, and then to access a number of aspects affecting durability such as wet ageing and impact damage. Examples of structures are given. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=16269

Patchs de réparationIndex. décimale : 620.19 Autres matériaux Résumé : The concept of repairing damaged metallic structures with composite patches has found increasing use in aerospace and other structures. However, the application has been primarily to monolithic structures. The application to repair of sandwich structures has been limited. The testing at USA Air Force Academy, Colorado has shown that the concept can be effectively used to extend the crack growth life of sandwich structures.
In the present study, analytical techniques have been developed to compute stress intensity factors in sandwich structure with face sheet cracks and repaired with composite patches. A mathematical approach using complex variables is developed. The problem is formulated in terms of sandwich core interface shear stresses, and adhesive shear stresses between face sheets and repair patches. The problem is reduced to the solution of a set of integral equations. The equations are solved numerically and a software program is written to compute stress intensity factors in the cracked face sheets. A parametric study was carried out to study the influences of adhesive thickness and face sheet thickness on stress intensity factors. The analysis was verified with test data, generated at US Air Force Academy, Colorado, on sandwich panels with 7075-T6 aluminum face sheets and repaired with Glare patches. The test data showed panels with thin face sheets having longer crack growth life as compared to panels with thick face sheets.Note de contenu : - ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENT : Formulation of the problem - Repair patch and face sheets interface shear stresses and displacements relationship - Displacements in cracked orthotropic face sheets - Displacements due to uniform applied stress - Stress intensity factors - Solution of integral equations

Rigidité (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The date palm is a giant plant that must be cleaned annually, which can be the first source various raw materials compared to other woods that are cleaned once every four years, such as cork. In Algeria, there are millions of palm trees that produce a significant amount of raw materials annually, but unfortunately they are not exploited in industry. This paper presents an experimental study on mechanical behaviour of four bio-sourced sandwich materials differentiated by their core types. The skins of these sandwiches are made composite material composed of rachis fibers and epoxy resin; however the cores are made of: 1) raw petiole and petiole agglomerate with two sizes (0 -1 mm and 1-3 mm) and 2) cork agglomerate for comparison. The comparison between these sandwiches is based on the overall stiffness which is determined by three point bending tests. The results obtained for all sandwich materials show that the overall stiffness of the Petiole agglomerate with the size (0mm-1mm)/rachis fibers-epoxy resin is higher than the other sandwiches. Thus, we have carried out a complementary damage study to this last sandwich material based on delamination tests. It turns out through this study the good resistance of this new sandwich to delamination compared to other previously studied materials. The model is based on the thick anisotropic plate theory, developed by Reddy and Pagano, which takes into account a through-thickness shear. An indentation law, as proposed by Hertz, is used to model the local response under the impactor. The good correlation between the shock and the simulation results testifies the validity of the method as far as the prediction of the contact force and the shear deformation in the core are concerned.
