The field of coating 'additives' is a broad one, and any attempt to review additives in general is likely to be both lengthy and unproductive. Instead, I have sought to draw attention to recently introduced additives that offer 'something more' - whatever that something may be. That, I hope, serves both to highlight the progress of coatings technology and to offer formulators both some new 'answers' to their problems' and some 'answers in search of a problem to solve'. Web addresses for the companies mentioned below are summarised in Table 1 as some are not immediately obvious. |
