Revêtements -- DétériorationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : All current procedures for identifying bacteria that degrade paints use culturing and this procedure may bias the results. Attempts were therefore made to identify bacterial species directly fro their DNA. Detailed identification was obtained from a contaminated and degraded paint sample, but components of undegraded paint may interfere with the test procedure. Titre : Limited choices : Achieving dry film protection under the biocidal products directive Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Frank Sauer, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 42-45 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Antimicrobiens
Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Changes to climate and building construction techniques have both increased the need for biocidal protection of exterior coatings. At the same time, stricter legislation is reducing the range of biocides, and in particular algicides, available. The legislation affecting biocidal products is reveiwed. The active substance known as Diuron is considered to be one of the safest dry-film algicides, with less strict labelling requirements than those for obvious alternative products. Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Everything about microbicides in a single book. Explained clearly and with an eye on formulation practice, but without sacrificing scientific expertise or thoroughness. The reader gains a comprehensive overview of the working mechanisms and possible applications of microbicides.
This book is for laboratory assistants, techniciens, graduates, engineer and chemists seeking to familiar themselves with the principles behind material protection in the field of coatings. However, the book should also prove rewarding to business people with a basic knowledge of chemistry and biology.
This book seeks to provide an overview of the different aspects of material protection, ranging from basic information about the universe of microorganisms, to the innate properties of microbicides, to the state of the art and finally to legislative aspects.Note de contenu : 1. INTRODUCTION TO MICROBICIDES : Classification of microorganisms - Microbicides - Mode of action of antimicrobial actives
2. COATINGS PRESERVATION : In-can preservation - Dry-film preservation - Plant hygiene
3. APPLICATION ASPECTS : Service life of microbicides - Optimisation of dosage - Formulation aspects - Remedial surface treatment - New developments in the field of material protection - Microbicides based on silver compounds
4. MICROBIOLOGICAL AND APPLICATION TEST METHODS : Minimum inhibitory concentration - Determination of germ count - In-can challenge test - Agar diffusion test - Laboratory leaching tests - Semi-field leaching trials - International standards
5. LEGISLATIVE ASPECTS : Biocidal Product Legislation (BPR) - Interrelationship of the BPR and other legislationPermalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=30657 Réservation

Titre : Playing it safe : Thiabendazole-based dry-film preservatives meet future environmental requirements Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Frank Sauer, Auteur Année de publication : 2007 Article en page(s) : p. 34-38 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Biocides - An environmentally compatible biocide, particularly suited for indoor use, provides excellent fungicidal performance in combination with other actives. It opens up new opportunities to develop a modern generation of biocidal products which can meet the requirements of both environmental legisation and the demands of paint producers. Chimie industrielle -- Aspect de l'environnementIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In a world of green revolution, only a little is left untouched. Biocide producers along with other parts of the chemical industry all over the world are currently focusing on projects to make their products more environmentally compatible and to promote their benefits and greener practices. Biocides are used in a variety of applications including paints and coatings, stucco/plasters, polymer emulsions, adhesives and sealants, inks, plastics, wood treatment and many more. The biocide producers have to cope with a highly variable demand of the biocidal product consuming industry, the heightened awareness of the danger of germ growth (bacteria, fungi, algae etc), increasing regulatory measures and fluctuating raw material costs. Regulations with regard to the production and application of biocides are affecting the biocide market in several way, as they are often restricting the use of biodical products and increasing the costs of the time-consuming support of biocides under new regulations. As a result, a couple of biocides are being withdrawn from some applications and traditional chemistries are being replaced with new products. While the regulations in Europe, America, Asia and other parts of the world are becoming more stringent, officials agree these changes will benefit the global biocide industry. Meeting the additional regulatory requirements will protect consumers and, in the long term, will benefit all stakeholders, customers and product manufacturers. Note de contenu : - Challenges ahead
