Résumé : |
Waterborne coatings - Today's main drivers for the development of new heavy duty coating systems can be summed up as being : cost effective, environmental and high-performance. Driven by an increasing demand for environmentally friendly coating systems, along with legislative requirements (eg Solvent emission Directive 1999/13/EC), a faster shift towards solvent-free as well as waterborne technology can be observed. Manufacturers of heavy-duty coating systems have responded to this by offering high-performance, environmentally compliant coatings based on new technologies, which have been developed by resin manufacturers in recent years. The conventional ways of formulating are beginning to fall short in these new systems. To obtain the desired properties in terms of processability, performance and appearance, additives are playing a vital role in system development. Exploring the full ecological and economical potential of additives is key for new development. |
