Résumé : |
Administrative control laws and regulations on air pollution are in existence in many countries.
Leather finishing is chiefly affected, and enforcements of these regulations will make the use of finishes based on organic solvents more difficult in the future.
Likewise the use of formaldehyde has to be reduced considerably due to its strong irritating effect on the mucus membranes.
Today,we can manage to produce solventfree finishes and finishes based on protein which possess good physical properties, wet and dry.By the use of carefully selected binders, topcoating agents based on acrylics and urethanes, and crosslinkers it is possible to develop "high performance" finishes. The emission of V.O.C.'s can also be reduced to a large degree by using new application methods, such as rollcoating. |
