Résumé : |
Many tanners and suppliers have viewed aluminium tannages as a replacement for chrome-based leathers. The regulatory agencies continue to rank trivalent chrome as a toxicant regardless of the literature which they have caused to be accumulated and perhaps literature they have not considered.Chromium is an essential trace element for mammalian in life.
Correspondingly, the regulatory agencies have not given serious consideration to the danger of the aluminium which have been documented in specific publications.
Aluminium is not an essential element for mammalian life; indeed, it can accumulate progressively in the body- leading to death. This paper provides data comparisons that are deemed to be of concern to our industry as it strives to follow a sound pathway down the regulatory road. |
