Résumé : |
Pickard and Anderson(P&A) of Auburn,New York, successfully sought and obtained permits for the Beneficial Use of Vegetable Tannery Biosolids for two different Pennsylvania tanneries,Gunnison Brothers,Inc. and Wickett and Craig of America. These permits were obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Envirionmental Resources Bureau of Waste Management(DER-BWM).Presently, the biosolids are being used as a soil supplement in the reclamation of coal strip mined lands in central and north-central Pennsylvania.
During the initial phase of projects, each company was able to reduce its total volume of waste disposed by greater than 50 percent, cutting waste disposal costs by a significant amount.Additional research is planned to determine if other portions of each company's waste can be removed from the waste streams and incoporated into soil supplements.Future research is planned for packaging the biosolids as soil supplements for sale to consumers. |
