Résumé : |
A new degreasing process has been studied in our laboratory and scaled up for industrial manufacture. This clean process leads to a complete recovery of fats which can be recycled in fatliquors formulations.
Several steps were required to produce emulsionable fatliquor formulations. First, the extracted fats have been analyzed and characterized qualitatively as well as quantitatively. In order to avoid the problems associated with the chemical production of emulsionable fats, we have opted for a physical process: the emulsification through addition of appropriate surfactants. The selection of surfactants has been based upon the concept of emulsion stability.
Several formulations have been tested at laboratory scale for various kinds of leather (vegetable or mineral tannins). Industrial trials have shown that the process can be scaled up to more important quantities of skins and that it is industrially feasible. |
