- Objectives : Assess the dermatological and ophthalmological tolerance and efficacy in improving skin sensitivity of face cream and balm under normal conditions of use by a population known to be particularly prone to this problem.
- Methods : In a monocentric non-randomized open trial, the cream or balm was applied twice daily to the face, neck, and eye contour of 33 stinger subjects with hypersensitive skin (22-63 years old). Assessments included dermatological and ophthalmological physical and functional signs on Day 1 (D1), D8, and D22, and cosmetic acceptability, cutaneous sensitivity according to a stinging test and the sensitive scale, and the soothing efficacy according to a questionnaire on D22.
- Results : The cream and balm were very well tolerated. Immediately after application, subjects reported a reduction in the skin's hypersensitivity (93.9% of subjects for the cream and 81.8% for the balm), skin redness (90.9% of subjects for the cream and 87.9% for the balm), sensations of tightness (93.9% for the cream and 97.0% for the balm), and discomfort sensations (93.9% for the cream and 87.9% for the balm). After 21 days, the application of the cream and balm decreased the stinging scores by 65% and 41%, respectively, with 94% and 77% of subjects showing an improvement, respectively. The sensitivity scale questionnaire indicated that the cream and balm significantly and profoundly decreased all negative signs, for example, irritability, stinging, general discomfort, redness, and dryness on D22 compared to D1. On D22, all 15 parameters recorded were improved by 89%–100% by the cream and by 74%–100% by the balm. The majority (90.9% and 96.8% of subjects using the cream and balm, respectively) of the subjects noticed positive changes in their skin condition after using the product for 21 days.
- Conclusions : The cream and balm were very well-tolerated. This study demonstrated that both products controlled and markedly reduced skin hypersensitivity in Asian subjects, with an immediate and lasting skin soothing and repairing effect over 21 days.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Test formulations - Subjects - Treatment and evaluation visits - Evaluations

Technique des plasmasIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : W-coated carbon/carbon composite has been considered as an attractive ITER plasma facing material in fusion devices. In this paper, W coating was prepared on the carbon/carbon composite substrate by double-glow plasma method using pure W as target. Argon was input into the chamber as the plasma and the reactive gas. W-coated carbon/carbon composite was heat-treated in vacuum furnace at 1300°C for 1 h. Phase and microstructure of W coating were examined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The chemical composition of W coating was analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy. The micro-hardness of the W coating was estimated by nano-indentation instrument. The results indicated that a continuous and dense W-modified layer could be successfully coated on the carbon/carbon composite surface by double-glow plasma method. W coating completely reacted with C to form WC at 1300°C. WC almost completely diffused into the carbon/carbon composite after heat treatment. The great decrease in elemental W on the carbon/carbon composite surface after heat treatment led to a significant reduction in micro-hardness. Titre : Highly improved UV-shielding and mechanical properties of UV-curable epoxy acrylate nanocomposites by incorporating functionalized aramid nanofibers Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ying Wang, Auteur ; Yuexin Luo, Auteur ; Yuankai Pan, Auteur ; Changmei Sun, Auteur ; Ying Zhang, Auteur ; Chunnuan Ji, Auteur ; Rongjun Qu, Auteur Année de publication : 2024 Article en page(s) : p. 307-317 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Introducing nanofillers into UV-curable coatings can not only effectively improve the performance of the coating but also impart new functions to the film. Herein, methacrylate-functionalized aramid nanofibers (mANFs) were constructed by a bottom-up approach, and their influence on the performance of UV-curable epoxy acrylate (EA) coatings was investigated. The microstructure of the EA/mANF nanocomposite was studied using X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which confirmed the homogeneous distribution of mANFs in the matrix. The effect of mANFs on the curing kinetics was investigated. The result showed that the photopolymerization rate and final C = C bond conversion would not be adversely affected until more than 0.1 wt% mANFs were added. The UV–Vis analyses showed that the EA/mANF films maintained high transmittance in the visible light region and exhibited improved UV-shielding performance. The mechanical characteristics of EA/mANF films were significantly improved by mANFs because of strong interactions such as π–π interactions, hydrogen bonds, and chemical bonds between the matrix and mANFs. For the nanocomposite containing 0.025 wt% mANFs, tensile strength and strain at break increased by 53% and 446%, respectively, compared to neat EA. Thus, the introduction of mANFs considerably improved the mechanical performance of UV-curable EA films and expanded their application in the field of UV shielding. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Dense and adherent Ir coating was obtained on the surface of the Mo substrate by double glow plasma, which had a deposition chamber and two cathodes. Argon gas was used as the working gas. The bias voltage of Ir target and Mo substrate were -800 and -300 V, respectively. The chamber pressure was 35 Pa. Microstructure of the Ir coating was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The Ir coating had a polycrystalline structure with preferential growth orientation of (220) crystal plane. The deposition rate was ~3.5 µm/h. The good adhesion resulted from the buffer layer between the Mo substrate and the Ir coating. The buffer layer, a combined Ir and Mo, was formed at the beginning of the deposition. The Mo concentration distributed gradiently along the depth of the buffer layer.
ThermochromieIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : In this study, the fibrous mesoporous silica F-SiO2 was functionalized with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). The reversible thermochromic composites of fibrous mesoporous silica (F-SiO2) and amino group-modified fibrous mesoporous silica (F-SiO2-NH2) microspheres loaded with cresol red-boric acid (CR-BA) were termed as S2 (F-SiO2/CR-BA) and SN2 (F-SiO2-NH2/CR-BA), respectively. The materials obtained were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. The fibrous morphology of this rigid carrier was maintained after loading with the CR-BA composite system. Owing to the APTES modification, the F-SiO2-NH2/CR-BA composites underwent more severe color changes than the F-SiO2/CR-BA composites. In addition, the F-SiO2-NH2/CR-BA composites can recover the original color in only 210 s, illustrating excellent reversibility.
