For several years we have been working on the application of tanning preparations which have a full fatliquoring effect on leather. The studies preformed confirm that during thereaction of chrome (III°with sulphoxidated waste pig fat in the ethylene glycol medium, complexed compouds of chrome with fats or their derivatives are formed. The presence of such complexes in the tanning/fatliquoring preparations facilitate the penetration of the preparation into the skin and, at the same time, its binding with the collagen network compounds regulates the fibre cohesion.
Chemical bonds between the skin proteins and the fatliquoring compounds give the skins specific properties such as fastness to washing and to organic solvent (dry cleaning).
The substances introduced into the skin during the compact tanning process may influence the dyeing properties of the manufactured leather. The purpose of the present study was the assessment of the dyeing properties of the skins tanned with the tanning fatliquoring preparations containing chrome III. |
