Résumé : |
In earlier works glyceryl tristeatrate (GTS) was used as simple fat in the synthesis of model tanning/fatliquoring preparations. The influence of a non-aqueous solvent, ethylene glycol upon the composition, structure and fastness of the products resulting from interaction of chrome III (Cr III) and fats was studied. The technological feasibility of the products obtained was determined by experimental tanning. The skins tanned with the bifunctional model preparation were properly tanned and lubricated. Their shrinkage temperature was 98°C (371 K) and the total of free and fixed fat amounted to 7.8 %. The skins of high combined fat content (3.2 % after post hydrolysis extraction) were fast to washing in organic solvents.
A conclusion drawn from the results together with the chromatographic and spectrophotometric tests is that complex compounds of Cr (III) and GTS were formed in the course of reactions performed in ethylene glycol as a solvent.
Further investigations of such complex compounds of Cr(III) and GTS are the topic of the present work. The chrome-fat compound was characterized and described through ion exchange, potentiometric titration and thermogravimetry.
The structure of the Cr(III)-GTS complex is important not only from the analytical point of view but also from the technological one because the compound is a model tanning fat-liquoring preparation based on sulphoxylated pig fat. The popular use of such preparations in a tannery could simplify tanning technology by reducing the number of operations and by giving the skins specific properties such as high fastness to washing in organic solvents (i.e. drycleaning). |
