Réflectivité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : There is the need to control the adsorption of solar radiation by pigments, without affecting their visible colour properties.
Thinking ouside the box is an objective every pionnering and forward-thinking coating chemist or engineer likes to achieve. Modern and innovative coatings are striving for an apparent breakthough effect that imparts the coating system as an obious added value. This ambition is driven by the general need for creating more and more cost efficient products without turning them into commodities. To prevail it is essential to focus on the right raw materials. One of the most innovative options is the use of 'smart' materials.
A smart pigmentation is a pigmentation that is capable of respondong to change in its environment or that may also exhibit an unexpected functionality.
One of the most striving challenges of this century is a reduction in energy consumption. For example Japan's electricity energy crisis this year is the result of excessive use of air conditionning. If we were able to reduce the heat build-up effect, the energy consumption would have been much lower.
An unexpected functionality, which we therefore need, is the ability to control the adsorption of solar radiation by pigments without affecting their visible colouristic properties. This is what we call a thermo controlling pigmentation.Note de contenu : - What does thermo-controlling mean ?

Vanadate de bismuthIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : This article deals with Bismuth vanadates' high performance yellow pigments and their applications.
Commercially available since the mid-1990s, Bismuth Vanadates(BV) pigments have been a huge success. They derive their dynamic power from their excellent properties in application and their competitive price to performance to ratio. Compared to P.Y. 83 and/or complex inorganic colour pigments (CICP) bismuth vanadates may be initially costlier but have been found to carry a significantly higher tinging strength and much cleaner shade. They dominate the bright yellow end of the colour spectrum and have shown to be a colour evaluators' first choice to replace leaded pigments, often at a 1:1 ratio in existing formulae.
Global demand for BV is estimated to be around 3000t/yr of which 90% is used in the coating industry (eg automotive, decorative, OEM and industrial). BV's use in powder coating and coil coating markets is increasing rapidly. To date, most of the developmental work has focused on bringing out BV with more specialised/customised properties for several applications to meet customer demands. For the longer term, R&D is concentrating on issues such as higher stability with heat and chemically aggressive resins.
Brufasol Yellow AL 2300, 30 and 40, produced by Bruchsaler Farbenfabrik GmbH & Co KG in Bruchsal, Germany, are brillant greenish to reddish yellow bismuth vanadates pigments. They exhibit good hiding power, tinting strength, temperature stability and the highest levels of weather resistance. Most importantly, BV's are environmentally-friendly alternatives to lead chromate pigments.Note de contenu : - Bismuth Vanadates in production

Pigments inorganiques -- AnalyseIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : This paper explains on the production of magnetite pigments for printer and copier toners. It emphasised that demands on synthetic iron oxides are becoming increasingly more stringent.
Printer toner is more than just magnetic iron oxide. In most copiers and laser printers, magnetite pigments are used to blacken the appropriate parts of the page. Each magnetic one-component toner contains 30 to 60% of the specialty iron oxides. But modern devices have strict requirements for the particles. Each particle should be identical to all the others to ensure an optimal printed image. The particles have to exhibit the proper magnetic and electrical properties and these must not be affected by humidity. Finally, the colour has to be right : deep back with an elegant blue undertone ispreferred today. TO satisfy all these requirements, the iron oxide must crystallise under precisely controlled conditions.Note de contenu : - Typical analytical data of surface treated Bayoxide E high-performance grades En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/14Fd7w0dA_OReg6xRXcyc-wOmWKEDL0PO/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27290

VioletIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : This paper explain the background behind Holliday Pigments' new manganese violet grade.
Manganese violet has long been used in cosmetics, where its vivid hues, stability and excellent safety in use are much appreciated ; it has all requisite FDA and European approvals. In addition, its manufacture is safe, with the minimal harmful by-products or toxic substances. However, until Holliday Pigments' innovative new grade, formulation difficulties have restricted the range of cosmetics in which it can be included.
Managanese Violet (MnV) is a synthetic, inorganic pigment, which was first introduced around 1900. It is essentially a covalent combination of ammonia, manganese and phosphate. The standard chemical description is ammonium manganese pyrophosphate.
The chromophore, which gives the pigment its bright violet colour is tri-valent manganese, which is stabilised within the compound structure by strong coordination with the phosphate and ammonia ions.Note de contenu : - Clean manufacture

Température -- ContrôleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Not getting the cure schedule right could increase the true costs to a company significantly and affect its whole operation. Datapaq has designed oven profiling systems that can maximise process efficiency.
The majority of temperature profiling systems used today is employed to simply check that the coated product reaches and maintains the specified temperature for the correct time (dwell time), ensuring the coating is thermally cured. This, in its own right is an essential step to improving operating profit by simply reducing the risk of rejects or need for costly rework. Not getting the cure schedule right could increase the true costs to a company significantly and affect its whole operation ; labour, energy, coatings and risk of lost contracts. Guaranteeing cure quality is the mere tip of the ice-berg in terms of how profiling can help you achieve the full potential of your coating operation as this article intends to discuss. Improve operating efficiency by understanding and controlling thermal cure process can maximise a company's operating profitability.Note de contenu : - Oven control - cost saving potential

Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Universal colourants are commonly used in point-of-sale tinting, covering the full paint selection, from including masonry paints. However, universal colourants are not always the preferred option from a technical point-of-view. Therefore special colourants are needed, such as façade colourants, which address the technical requirements of these paints. Additionally, decorative paints can be produced in a nearly unlimited number of colours. In special applications, such as in masonry paints, the colour area has so far been mainly limited to earthy colours because of the use of traditional pigments. New colourant developments are widening the colour area significaltly thus offering brighter cleaner shades for masonry applications with technical limitations. Note de contenu : - Masonry paints

The introduction of hydrosilylation cure chemistry into a TFEC-based coating provides excellent physical properties. Fast and low temprature curing can be achieved easily contributing to a potentail reduction in energy consumption, thus lowering processing costs and broadening application areas especially on substrates, which are easily damaged at high fabrication temperatures. Good weatherability derived from the TFEC polymer system was maintained or somewhat improved with the hydrosilylation cure system. In addition several unexpected results - high flexibility and hard film poperties with good unprimed adhesion to many common substrates - were demonstrated. These outlanding properties can significantly broaden the range of applications where this technology could be applied.Note de contenu : - TABLES : 1. Properties of common fluoropolymers - 2. Produits chimiques -- MigrationIndex. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : In 2005, traces of isopropylthioxanthone (ITX) were discovered in different beverages. This a photo initiator used in UV-curing printing inks. As a result of set off, which may occur while the prints are wound, small amounts of ITX make contact with the unprinted reverse and (while the packaging is made and filled) also the food inside. This fact was discussed in detail controversially with the result that 'printing inks for food packaging' are now given particular attention by the general public, political representatives and authorities.
The regulation (EC) N°. 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food requires that materials and articles, including active and intelligent materials and articles, shall be manufactured in compliance with good manufacturing practice so that, under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, they do not transfer their constituents to food in quantities which could :
- Endanger human health
- Bring about an unacceptable change in the composition of the food or
- Bring about a deterioration in the organoleptic characteristics thereof
Specific laws relating to printing inks - ie specifying limit values, assessment methods, permitted or prohibited components - have not yet been enacted. the result of this situation is that attempts are being made to apply directives of related technical areas at least partly and those printing ink manufacturers who have joined the European Printing inks Association, EuPIA have additionally commited to applying 'Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the production of printing inks for food packaging'.Note de contenu : - Plastic directive
