Purecentia Camellia sinensis has a higher solids content, a better representation of certain peaks, and a greater diversity of compounds ; in addition, it has a much more higher concentration of L-theanine than traditional black and green tea preparations. Overall, Purecentia Camellia sinensis has much higher concentration than traditional black and green tea preparations, and contains more constituents. Activity of Purecentia Camellia sinensis is over twenty times higher than the best-performing of the tested commercial green tea beverages, and even the 5% Purecentia Camellia sinensis drink prototype surpasses every tested commercial beverage. This suggests that Purecentia Camellia sinensis may be a potent ingredient for adding antioxidant activity to existing beverages, or creating functional beverages using it as a base active ingredient. Cosmetic ingredient Recentia CS retains its antioxidant activity in personal care gel prototype, and helps to preserve antioxidant activity of other components of the formulation.Note de contenu : - CAMELLIA SINENSIS : Functional drinks supporting 'beauty from wihin' - The functional beverage ingredient vs. black tea and green tea traditional preparations

Théier et constituantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Analytical data shows notable quantitative differences in properties and marker compostions of amphiphilic ingredients and Recentia CS obtained from the living tea plant. In the amphiphilic ingredients the totale amount of catechins is much higher vs Recentia CS, especially in DiPG-A and DiPG-B (15400-15700 µg/mL, respectively) - with epigallocatechin gallate, epicatechin gallate and epicatechin being the three most abundant compounds. In Recentia CS, the totale amount of catechins is lower ( ~ 9330 µm/mL) epigallocatechin, epicatechin and epigallocatechin gallate being the three compounds with highest concentrations. In general, when compared to Recentia CS, the amounts of the more hydrophobic molecules (e.g theaflavins) tend to increase in the amphiphilic ingredients, while the amounts of the more hydrophilic molecules (e.g theanine), tend to decrease. The amphiphilic ingredients are compatible with oil phase of various emulsions and with anhydrous ethanol-based spays, e.g sunscreen sprays. Recentia CS is compatible with water phases of emulsions, gel and serum formulations. The amphiphilic ingredients and Recentia CS can be used simultaneously in various delivery systems providing formulators with the opportunity to explore the bioactive synergies of natural complexes and develop finished goods with superior efficacy. the testing of the biological activities of the amphiphilic ingredients and Recentia CS in various cell culture and skin equivalent studies is current ongoing.

Toxicologie cellulaireIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : As previously shown, Recentia CS obtained from living Camellia sinensis (tea) plants via patented Zeta Fraction technology has greater diversity of constituents and exhibits superior multifunctional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities than traditional green tea and black tea; it also possesses photostabilisation properties.
In this article, Recentia CS is evaluated in in vitro surfactant-induced skin cell inflammation/irritation model to determine if this ingredient has potential to reduce undesirable impact of personal care and cleansing products. Cultured human epidermal keratinocytes (HEK) were treated with surfactants to induce release of key inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL-1a) and key chemokine interleukin (IL-8). Cytotoxicity was evaluated with Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) assay.
Based on cytotoxicity data and abilities to induce release of IL-la, six representatives of four different classes of surfactants were ranked. A nonionic ethoxylated alcohol was the mildest surfactant and was able to induce release of IL-la but not IL-8. It was found that Recentia CS was a potent inhibitor of IL-la and IL-8 in HEK treated with either Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) or ethoxylated alcohol.
Activity of Recentia CS was comparable to 2-acetoxybenzoic acid (positive control for IL-1a) for inhibition of IL-la induced by either SDS or ethoxylated alcohol. The 2-acetoxybenzoic acid was ineffective for inhibition of IL-la induced by ethoxylated alcohol. Importantly, Recentia CS inhibited both SDS-induced and basal level IL-8 in keratinocytes, while SB203580 (positive control for IL-8) inhibited SDS-induced IL-8 only.
Traditional green tea and black tea preparations obtained from the same cultivar as Recentia CS failed to inhibit IL-la and IL-8 induced by either SDS or ethoxylated alcohol. Thus, Recentia CS provides not only superior multifunctional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, as well as photo-stabilisation properties, but also significantly imparts mildness to novel personal care and cleansing products by mitigating surfactant-induced skin inflammatory and irritation responses.Note de contenu : - SDS : Dose-dependent induction of key skin inflammatory mediators IL-1α and IL-8

The eyes are the window to the soul they say. Humans have had a fascination with beautifying the eyes dating back to Ancient Egyptian times, where kohl eyeliner was used to accentuate the eyes to emulate the appearance of the gods. This fascination continues today, with beauty procedures that enhance the shape of the eye such as mascara, eyelash extensions and eyelash perming being common practice
Our eyes provide sight, arguably at the top of the ‘senses hierarchy’. They are a precious sensorial gateway that allows for light perception, colour vision and depth perception, shaping the way we experience the world. With so much importance placed on our eyes’ proper function, it is obvious that eye health and hygiene is of paramount importance.
A commonly experienced eye condition that presents as swollen, itchy, dry, and irritated eyes is blepharitis. For most people, blepharitis causes only minor irritation and itching, however, it can lead to more severe symptoms such as blurring of vision, photophobia, missing or misdirected eyelashes, and inflammation of other eye tissue, particularly the cornea if left undertreated.Note de contenu : - What is Demodex ?
