Tannage Résumé : In this work, the extraction of tannin from Turkish valonia was studied using water, in a new type of extractor. This new extraction system uses a bed of ground valonia which is continuously washed fresh solvent sprayed from mobile spray nozzles. This extractor was developed by Emir GÃœLBARAN in a pilot-plant scale. The effects of 1) extraction time, 2) solvent-to-raw-material ratio and 3) average particle diameter of valonia on extraction yield are determined for the GÃœLBARAN extractor.
The experimental results showed that the optimum extraction conditions are 180min. extraction time, 10.5kg. solvent/kg. raw material and 0.95 mm particle size. In these experiments valonia extracted in hot water yielded 93.15% of tannin.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t3nUvxdkgEEgFqisyIa1vGWwk_hhVXpZ/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8591

Tannage Résumé : By using mathematical principles of surface chemistry and knowledge about the structure of collagen and hides, it is possible to follow the events which occur during different stages of water removal from leather.
When water Is removed from the space between fibrils, lateral shrinkage of fibers occur. High-rate, longitudinal shrinkage of fibers takes place when the ends of successive molecules in the same row approach each other. Whereas this is observed to occur where the average moisture content drops from about 50% (moisture-free basis) to about 27%, mathematical evidence is presented which indicates that longitudinal shrinkage diminishes actually at about 9% moisture content when end-to-end contact between molecules is prevented due to accumulation of chrome in the region of d-bands of positively stained fibrils of collagen seen by electron microscopy. This may be one of the mechanisms through which tanning prevents bonding of molecules together and preserves elasticity and flexibility in leather. Calculations show that chemical or physical reaction between different parts of the hide structure should be small if the moisture content in every part of the hide or leather is kept above roughly 13%. Using published information, mathematical equations are derived describing shrinking and stressing of leather during drying.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pJ72h_MBHwe38r8UGcmQWA_MCkL82qHr/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8603

As measured by shrinkage temperature, the two compounds effectively crosslinked the collagen and, with proper control, could serve as tanning agents. The reaction takes place under alkaline conditions but swelling of the protein was controlled by the addition of sodium sulfate to the reaction mixtures. Shrinkage temperatures of 85°C and higher were obtained. The products exhibited the required resistance to chemical and enzymic attack and, on a scale, were made into white or pale yellow leather, respectively. The results were compared to those obtained with formaldehyde and glyoxal. While open/natural drying is less productive, faster drying processes including radiation drying and the like processes, could result in densening and damaging the leather surface. To avoid these, a relatively slower process of drying with convection and conduction was developed using an electrical drying chamber. This paper presents details of the chamber and the drying characteristics of leather dried in the open and also in the chamber under conditions of 40°C and 60 percent RH. Tannage Résumé : In this study, extraction of pinus brutia bark is performed using a new extractor-diffuser system. This new extraction system uses a moving bed of bark which is continuously washed with fresh solvent sprayed from mobile spray nozzles. To confirm the performance of the Gülbaran extractor for extraction of P. brutia bark, the effects of extraction temperature, residence time, solvent/raw material ratio and particle size on the tanning yield were investigated.
The bark used in this study was obtained from Kütahya/Aegean region of Turkey. The average tanning content of the bark was determined to be 19.64% on a dry basis.
The experiments performed showed that the optimum extraction conditions are 180 min. extraction time, 0,65-0,75 mm particle size, 6 kg raw material ratio and 95°C solvent temperature. In the batch experiments the bark of P. brutia leached in hot water yielded 94.56% of the tanning. The resultant extract in this system was more dilute than that produced by some multicell extractors, thus requiring more evaporator costs.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1enD0GxHbYi9JqIkTdNfdmBzD5z13gZZf/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8615

Tannage Résumé : On the basis of the 'standard' SLP.18 (or IUP/16) the measurement of shrinkage temperature of leather samples is rather tiresome. However, shrinkage temperature is a fundamental measure in fur-and-leather science. Hence, there is a great demand to develop a computerized method of measuring the shrinkage temperature for research laboratories as well as for fur dressers and tanneries. In the present work a system is described which can measure up to 12 leather samples during one loading by using a special apparatus and a microcomputer with a data-conversion board on the bus. A temperature equalizer ensures a sample temperature within an accuracy of 1 celcius degree. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The right finish for your leather is a topic which determines our daily efforts from a developmental, as well as a service point of view. I would like to share some of my thoughts on this subject with you.
Is it stil] possible to look upon finishing, as it was years ago described in a promotional leaflet by the New England Tanners Club ? "The finishing department in a tannery is the area where an alert and creative mind now adds the final touches to enhance the natural beauty of the product, while further adding to its "service-ability".
Up until World War One, natural and tu a greater extent synthetic dyestuffs were the major colouring agents on leather. Aniline dyestuffs could not be imported during wartime; for this reason some finish producers found a way to colour leather with the aid of pigments. In order to fix the pigments on leather they were ground with viscous solutions of casein in cone mills.
With the application of this type of "pigment paint" the leather producers discovered that leathers with uneven or patchy surfaces came out almost as good as those of better selections. The better utilization of poorer quality raw materials made leather production more profitable. The description of the above event was not the beginning of leather finishing but it steered it into the direction as we know finishing today. In 1931 BASF started manufacturing and selling polyacrylate dispersions for the purpose of leather finishing, and soon after — as other companies followed this example — a new era in leather finishing dawned. For the first time highly stretchy glove leathers could be finished with these resilient binders. Over the years leather finishing has become a very complex field indeed; few other coatings have to meet so many requirements.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gD3mtDwEc0EdTFnRFBTRkbeVuDj6Cp1y/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8627

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Nitrocellulose, Cellulose Acetate Butyrate, Acrylic, and Polyurethane lacquers and water-dilutable lacquer-emulsion topcoats have been employed by the leather industry as topcoating materials for many years. They impart excellent handling, drying and aesthetic properties to the finish and have been perfected over the years to provide relatively trouble-free application. Due to changing Federal regulations and local legislation which require that the finisher use coatings with lower solvent emissions, the conversion to increasing amounts of water-based topcoat systems in the leather industry is underway.
The scope of this presentation is designed to provide the finisher with a better understanding of the key formulation and application parameters which must be considered to facilitate a smooth transition from solvent to water-based topcoat systems. Key application and handling properties of "water" topcoat systems such as coating rheology, formulation viscosity, surface tension, drying, effects of cosolvent/coalescent,water evaporation/humidity effects,recoatability and equipment requirements for spray and roller-coating applications must be carefully controlled to produce the desired application, finish appearance, and physical properties.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jMlp4Ff-3oITXYOv3P2vyb-ox-XBwnkD/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8657

Immersion dyeing is a very interesting possibility mainly for shoe upper leather but also for certain Nappa leathers if they are finished which pigmented finishes afterwards.
It is still easier and better to achieve a variety of colors and fastness properties by the traditional drum-dyeing process.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DQXCvx6dGwusWpcIagsznocY9P39YZdg/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8658

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : With the growing demand for high-quality full-grain leathers and the necessity to minimise costs of re-working, the need for accurate and reliable sorting of semi-processed stock is becoming increasingly important.
During recent studies at the British Leather Confederation,a wide range of high- and low-technology approaches has been investigated to determine whether they have any potential to detect grain damage. This has led to the development of the 'Sortassist' process based on a decolorisable pigment that effectively highlights grain faults on wet blue(75 to 85 percent detection rate) or pickled stock(over 95 percent detection rate).
The pigment formulation can be applied either manually or by drum at pH>4. After grain sorting, the pigment is decolorised and chemically destroyed by a short acid-treatment step at pH<3, prior to further processing of the stock.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jzaDUaI72sXmrEfiuFUFsgKhVYuGxAet/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8660

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Determination of hexavalent chromium is essential for disposal of chromium containing waste into the environment,but current methods produce ambiguity in reported results. Using five concentration levels of Cr(III) and spiking with three concentrations of Cr(VI),determinations of Cr(VI) were made using EPA** solid waste methods 7195(Coprecipitation), 7196(Colorimetric-Diphenylcarbazide), and 7197(Chelation-Extraction).
The data indicate limitations in quantifying Cr(VI) in Cr(III) matrices. The Coprecipitation method was shown to be inadequate in determining the presence of Cr(VI) in Cr(III) matrices. Chelation-Extraction was able to show that one Cr(III) solution was free of any Cr(VI)contamination. For the other Cr(III)solution, the method indicated a presence of Cr(VI) but was unable to quantify the amount. Colorimetric analysis proved to be the most reliable, consistent, and informative of all three methods. It confirmed the findings of the Chelation-Extraction method and,in addition, quantified the amount of Cr(VI) present in the Cr(III) solution.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/15rr1LaP7LDuImz9aft51fLzTfctEPZns/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8661

Tannage Résumé : Environmental legislation threatens chrome tanning as we know it today. This has led to the creation of the wet-white approach for leather production, using aldehydes, aluminium, titanium and zirconium salts.
Increasingly the view is being expressed that alternatives to chrome do not offer the requisite stability or versability. This paper suggests that chrome will remain the preferred tanning material, and thay every attempt must be made to make chrome tannages environmentally acceptable.
Our research has shown that simple modifications to the standard chrome tanning techniques permit the production of low-chrome, low-effluent wet-blue leathers, possessing sufficient thermal and textural stability to permit easy handling at the mechancial operations. The leathers so produced can be utilised for the manufacture of the full range of vegetable-tanned, syntan- or mineral-retanned leathers.
The tan effluent and the shavings from the low-chrome tanned leathers conform to current environmental standards.
Systems will be presented that improve the chrome fixation in the leather to conform to the EPT and TCLP standards for chrome leachables.
Processes for the retannage of most types of leather are outlined,including high-exhaust chrome retanning systems.

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The uptake of 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole (TCMTB) active ingredient from emulsion dispersion of Busan 30L on both limed and lightly chromed hide powder at treatment temperatures of 10°, 25° and 40°C has been investigated. Fungicide uptake was determined by difference measurements on the float at regular intervals during treatment.
At lower fungicide treatment concentration on both chromed and limed hide powder, binding tended to follow a typical mass-action-type binding isotherm with very little change with temperature between 13 and 40°C. At higher float concentrations on chrome hide powder an inflexion point was apparent beyond which uptakes showed a further marked increase with concentration. This inflexion point signified a change in binding characteristics,but was not as marked on limed hode powder indicating that the chrome present played a major role in promoting the different binding mechanism.
The binding isotherms observed were consistent with mass-action-controlled interactions occuring between collagen or chromed collagen or chromed collagen fibres and dispersed TCMTB in the aqueous emulsion treatments, encompassing the practical lower application range used in production. At higher treatment concentrations, progressive destabilisation of the emulsion occured, leading to surface precipitation of TCMTB/surfactant components onto the hide-powder fibres and a pronounced increase in uptake.
The results of the study provide further insight into the modes of interaction of TCMTB with the hide-powder-collagen matrix and the importance of the emulsion dispersion and its stability in determining uptake of fungicide by leather.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e1u10HVBgUKW-dRPDEDWsbsbxnapo2iS/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8685

The mechanical slicker, known as Powder Slicker, developed by Central Research Laboratories (CRL) was used during the test. The tests were set up to observe what differences occur between power-slicked and hand-slicked hides in the areas of yield, thickness, residual paste, and neck wrinkles on 2.3-mm leather. Extensive controls were used on 200 matched sides. Evaluation of the data reveals that mechanical power slicking has significant advantages over hand slicking. Tannage Résumé : A method was developed that separates solid chrome shavings into a protein and a chromium product. The method entails the proteolytic treatment of chrome shavings at a temperature from 60 to 65° C. in the presence of 5-6% lime. Following the treatment, the protein can be separated by filtration, leaving a chromium cake. Extraction of the chromium cake with sulphuric acid produces a chromium solution which may be used directly in the pickle step. Alternatively, the chromium could be precipitated from the acidic solution and used to make up the tan. The protein hydrolyzate contains less than 4.5 ppm chromium and has potential as a feed, fertilizer, or as an additive in the cosmetic industry. Tannage Résumé : The following conclusions can be derived from the evaluation of tannery effluents :
1. The tannery effluents studied are acutely toxic.
2. Ammonia, in concentrations normally discharged by tanneries, should be considered the primary constituent of toxicity.
3. Other toxicity is present even after ammonia is removed. Such toxicity is in the soluble fraction and is unaffected by polar screening.
4. A strong suspect of toxicity is the non-ionic branch-chained molecular structures which may exist in surfactants and wetting agents.
5. For more-poorly treated tannery wastes, undisassociated hydrogen sulfide, phenols, chlorides, as well as other organics should be suspected.
6. The focus of permitting in the future will be on water quality-based criteria. Industries should ensure that they are prepared for the scrutiny and understand the nature of their discharge.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TMn_gyZNoq-EDt_QmK7MI6akOF7-JcUV/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8718

Tannage Résumé : The question arises to what extent the water balance of a hide is transferred to leather through the leathermaking process. The pivot is collagen: it has various degrees of water binding which differ in the physical properties of bound water molecules. Other proteinous hide components are destroyed and/or removed in beamhouse operations. The product of these operations is restructure of collagen. In tanning and wet finishing, the side-chain charges and microstructure of collagen are modified. In the resulting leather, the basic features of collagen remain unchanged and, with certain limitations, it reacts with water the same way as it does in hide. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The ability to demonstrate that industry products, waste materials and disposal sites are free of hexavalent chronium is of crucial regulatory importance to the leather tanning industry. This requires reliable techniques to extract and detect, without alteration, small quantities of Cr6 from complex sample matrices in the presence of a large excess of Cr3 as well as other potential interferents. EPA solid waste methods 7195 (coprecipitation), 7196 (colorimetric) and 7197 (chelation/extraction) are not entirely suitable results. This report examines a number of case histories where false-positive Cr6 results were reported in tannery-related materials by independent testing laboratories, and recommends procedures to be followed in order to avoid these problems. Method 7195 is not recommended for samples with a large excess of Cr3. Methods 7196 and 7197 can provide results given reasonable care and validation. Russell, Auteur Année de publication : 1990 Article en page(s) : p. 334-343 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Research involving selected combinations of commercial proteases provided evidence that a synergistic depilatory effect occurs when proteases of complementary bond specificities are used in conjunction in enzymic depilatory preparations. Some form of strong alkali treatment of skins was found to be necessary to produce a skin fibre matrix of the prerequisite quality when the skin was depilated by proteases since, otherwise, the depilated skin after acetone dehydration was found to be depleted and stiff. Calcium hydroxide alone was found to be inadequate for this task, probably owning to the fact that it is less alkaline than the lime-sulfide mixture. Sodium hydroxide was therefore used in conjunction with calcium hydroxide (lime) to match the alkalinity of the lime-sulfide solution in order to produce skin characteristics comparable with those from a line-sulfide unhairing treatment.
A combinaison of the information provided by the results obtained in the present systematic study combined with information gleaned from the relevant literature allowed for the construction of a model to represent the possible mechanism of enzymic depilation of skins. In terms of this model, depilation is caused by the disruption of the basement membrane at the dermal-epidermal junction through the degradation of its constituent molecular components by combinations of proteases with completely specifities, resulting in the removal of both the epidermis and associated wool or hair.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qy3G63b_brAZRW5U54vDu0o3VRg3F6Ox/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8724

Tannage Résumé : The effect of incremental increases in concentration of sulfates on anaerobic digestion was investigated using a laboratory-scale Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reeactor fed semi-continuously with a synthetic wastewater. A concentration of up to 6000mg/l SO42- was found to have no effect on an acclimatized anaerobic digester with the exception of a decrease in the methane yield. The sulfides formed as a result of microbial sulfate reduction were distributed between soluble sulfides and hydrogen sulfide in the biogas. Precipitation of heavy-metal sulfides also occured in the digester. These results suggest that the concentration of sulfates and sulfides present in tannery wastewaters would be insufficient to cause failure of anaerobic digesters. Titre : Determination of CrVI) in tannery waste by the chelation-extraction method Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Edward E. Menden, Auteur ; Frank H. Rutland, Auteur ; Waldo E. Kallenberger, Auteur Année de publication : 1990 Article en page(s) : p. 363-375 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Significant levels of hexavalent chromium have been reported in two tannery-related wastes by commercial analytical laboratories using the chelation/extraction method (EPA method 7197). Further investigation at the LIA Laboratory of such waste materials for identical sources revealed that unique trivalent chromium organocompounds were present in both. These can be erroneously identified as hexavalent chromium by virtue of the specific analytical conditions employed by the chelation/extraction procedure. Indeed, no chromium (VI) was found in either waste sample. The error in the chelation/extraction determination of chromum (VI) resulted from chromium (III) organocompounds which were directly soluble in the extraction solvent, methylisobutyl ketone. These extractable chromium (III) compounds were not specifically identified, but were found to behave identically with chromium (III) soaps and similar organochromium compounds.
The distinction between chromium (VI) and extractable chromium (III) compounds was demonstrated by two changes to the chelation/extraction method. These changes help differentiate chromium states and effectively illustrate that failure to do so can lead to erroneous results with this particular analytical method. The first change was to eliminate the chelating agent that complexes hexavalent chromium and, therefore, facilitates the transfer into extracting solvent. Omitting the chelation step required for the extraction of chromium (VI) has not prevented chromum from being extracted, priving that a solvent-soluble form of chromium was present in the analyte materials. In the second change, the EPA chromium (VI) determination method was used in parallel on replicate sample groups, one of which had been treated with a powerful chromium (VI)-reducing agent. Spiked samples of several kinds also were analyzed to demonstrate that hexvalent chromium was eliminated by this reductant. Yet, significant chromium from only the waste materials still was extractable, again indicating that it was not hexavalent chromium but a solvent soluble chromium (III) compounds, including a chrome soap and a complex, and lagoon sludge water-immisciblephase with a high content of chromium (III) were introduced into water and extracted according to method 7197 and the two differentiation procedures. All three kinds of samples yielded high to complete extraction recoveries of chromium, regardless of the technique. In conclusion, the results of the aforementioned experiments indicate that the EPA chelation/extraction method for determining hexavalent chromum can definitely give false positive or erroneously high values when used on some tannery wastes.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O4nZWr48MagDhCGX1e2H46XSZZIgl5Rw/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8726

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Dying process in the fur, leather and textile industries generally deal with multi-component systems presenting multi-collinearity and interferent problems. In this case the rational Multiple Linear-Regression (MLR) analysis fails. At TUT in the Laboratory of Fur and Leather Technology (LFLT) fiberoptic spectroscopy with the Partial Least-Squares (PLS) techniques is used to analyse multi-component systems with interferent components and multicollinearity problems and with noisy signals. In order to predict chemical compositions of a multi-component system from spectroscopic information it is necessary to create concentration and absorption matrices which are used to create a calibration model. Using the model and applying PLS data-manipulation techniques it is possible to predict unknown concentrations. In this research the PLS technique is applied in the analysis of acid dying process using a number of dye solutions. The results are promising and possible further applications of this technique are being investigated. Titre : CO2 Deliming Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Michael J. Klaasse, Auteur Année de publication : 1990 Article en page(s) : p. 431-441 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Increasing environmental pressures are forcing tannery to reduce the level of nitrogenous compounds in their effluent. A substantial portion of this problem is due to the use of ammonium compounds for deliming. An environmentally friendly method of deliming using gaseous CO2 can greatly reduce or, in some cases, completely eliminate the use of ammonium salts.
This paper details the development of the CO2 deliming process. It draws upon experience gained through extensive lab drum testing as well as full-scale drum and mixer operations. It focuses on :
1) the chemistry of CO2 deliming ;
2) advantages versus conventional deliming methods ;
3) implementation techniques ;
4) the effects of process parameters (e.g. temperature), and ;
5) controlling hydrogen sulfide formation.
At least 11 tanneries in the United States and Europe are currently using the CO2 deliming process. This proven technology offers considerable benefits over conventional deliming techniques and can be economically incorporated into the operations of most tanneries.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uCY4x6shV4wR9GmGMf9DlkW_9dwJDC5m/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8821

Tannage Résumé : The cross-linking of proteins by aluminum in the environment has been implicated as a possible cause of neurological disorders. Alumin-tanned leather was selected for experimental testing of an electrical therapeutic device for in-vitro metal removal. Immersion in a chelating electrolyte with application of a low-voltage, slowly-oscillating current removed all of the aluminum after 30 days operation. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The effect of temperature on penetration of salt was measured at 36°, 50°, 60° and 80°F. The rate of uptake of salt by samples of cattlehide in saturated brine decreases as the temperature of the brine decreased. Continuous mechanical movement of the hide samples in brine increased the rate of salt uptake compared to static immersion. Data from salt-saturation measurements of more than 50000 commercially processed hides were examined. It was found that more than 75% of the cattlehides cured during the winter months in the colder regions of the country had unsatisfactory levels of salt saturation. Tannage Résumé : Melatonin is a natural hormone that initiates autumn moult and the growth of winter fur. It is possible to induce an early moult of winter coat, several weeks earlier, with one 12-mg implant of synthetic melatonin. In this work, possible melatonin-induced effects on skin and leather properties of blue fox were investigated. The samples formed two groups: one control group and one melatonin group. Physical properties such as tensile strength and tearing energy were determined for the leather samples in aluminum-tanned state. The results showed good quality for both groups. The figures obtained for the chemical characteristics of i) shrinkage temperature and ii) fixing of tannin were also comparable with those typical of normal production. All the figures give new useful information on the properties of blue-fox skin and leather and are sufficiently useful to justify their inclusion in a database. Tannage Résumé : This study concerns the possible application of fluorinated surface-active agents in different processes of leather manufacture.
The fluorinated surface-active agents employed in this study are characterised by a very high superficial activity demonstrated by a greater wetting capacity which is imparted in several systems.
Two tanning processes were selected - dyeing and chrome tanning - to test the repercussion of fluorinated surface-active agents in the improvement of contact between a solid (leather) and a liquid (liquor bath), i.e., the use of such surface-active agents as aids in the rupture between heteroeneous phases. The diffusion through the leather fibres of anionic dyes and of tanning Cr+ cationic complexes has also been studied. For this work an anionic surface-active agent was selected for the dyeing process and a cationic surface-active agent for the chrome-tanning process.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MPdw5g_ZMCX4TLnAAEvQrWuwb2gh1yrm/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8825
