Achieving oil and water repellency on surfaces is easily obtained with the use of fluoroalkyl-modified silanes. While fluoroalkyl-modified silanes exhibit high static and advancing water and oil contact angles, their low receding contact angles mean the oil and water will not readily slide over the treated surface. The resulting effect of these characteristics yields a surface that is both easy to clean and stays clean longer. Ultimately, modified perfluoropolyether silanes give high static and advancing water and oil contact angles as well as high receding contact angles resulting in a very low sliding angle. The influence of structure modification of the silane and the perfluoropolyether component is examined. Their impact on performance by application method is also discussed.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DVo4NyO6UUFVon3LF5Itb6sQ8xXOr-2t/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27175

Whilst perfluoroalkyl-modified silanes exhibit high static and advancing water and oil contact angles, their low receding contact angles mean that water and oil will not readily slide over treated surfaces. However, modified perfluoropolyether (PFPE) silanes, whilst exhibiting high static and advancing water and oil contact angles, also exhibit high receding contact angles, resulting in surfaces where the sliding contact angle is very low. The influence of structure modification of the silane and the perfluoropolyether component are examined along with the organic linking group. Their impact on performance using both the dip coating method and the chemical vapour adsorption method is discussed.
