Three different types of poly zinc acrylate resins were prepared by reacting polyacrylic acid and zinc oxide in varying mole proportion. The aluminum paint based on poly zinc acrylate resin was found to sustain the temperature up to 800°C. These coatings were also found to have excellent solvent resistance, scratch hardness (2000 gms.) and drying time (within 10 minutes). The mole ration of COOH (of polyacrylic acid) with zinc as 2:0.25 was found to give best results. A two pack system of aluminum zinc acrylate paint has been recommended. |
