ViscositéIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Adhesives are critical to our everyday lives. In 1994 alone, 150 million pounds of adhesives will be dispensed in the automotive industry (1). Ford's new AIV (Aluminum Intensive Vehicle) relies on adhesives to make it sound. Henry Cornille, vehicle structures engineering specialist at Ford, claims "benefits include greater stability and less vibration - ultimately a quieter ride."(2)
Adhesives riser in automobiles are only a small part of the industry. Adhesives are everywhere. Even bread and potato chip bags are actually two or three layers of plastic with adhesives in between.
The number of these adhesives products, their physical properties and the metering pump requirements are the focus of this article. All adhesives need to be dispensed in some form.
Whether they are single or multi-component, thin as water, or heavier than mud, dispensing equipment is used. The article is first look at the physical and compositional properties of adhesives and their effects on dispensing equipment. The various metering pumps will be reviewed, and their ability to handle material properties will be discussed. The article will conclude with a cross referenced chart covering additional resin parameters and how they affect machine design(Tables IV and V).Note de contenu : - MATERIAL PROPERTIES AND COMPOSITION : Viscosity - Specific gravity - Working life - Moisture sensitivity - Corrosiveness - Fillers

Matériaux -- Application-dosageIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Two-component (2K) adhesives are becoming increasingly prevalent in a variety of manufacturing applications—including electronics, medical devices, aerospace, transportation and basic assembly—because their predictable cure times allow these processes to be managed with greater control and efficiency. Many 2K adhesives are packaged in cartridges that range in size from 1-1,500 ml with ratios from 1:1 to 25:1. Regardless of cartridge volume or ratio, the packaging considerations needed to optimize adhesive performance are the same. Note de contenu : - Trapped air risks

PolyuréthanesIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : Two-component epoxies and polyurethanes are used in a variety of industries and applications. In the construction industry, for example, epoxies are used to anchor rebar and threaded rod, as well as for structural concrete repair and crack injection, while polyurethane foams are frequently used for insulation and soundproofing. In the automotive industry, polyurethanes are used to assemble filters, exterior lighting, motor covers, tail lamp lenses and other components.
Regardless of the application, a proper mix of materials is critical to the success of any two-component dispensing process. In most instances, as long as the pumping system is capable of delivering both components to the valve in the correct ratio at the desired flow rate, and an appropriate static mixing nozzle is used, the materials will be thoroughly mixed.
A common system configuration for large-scale, two-component dispensing applications consists of separate reservoirs for the base and catalyst, a pump, a meter/mix valve, and a mixing nozzle. Gear pumps or piston pumps are typically used to transport the two components from the base and catalyst reservoirs to the corresponding inlets on the meter/mix valve. When the valve is actuated, the base material and catalyst are pushed through the manifold of the valve, out to the static mixing nozzle and onto the substrate.Note de contenu : - Incorporated fillers

Véhicules électriquesIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : The increasing power and range of modern electric vehicles are presenting manufacturers with fire protection challenges when it comes to saving lives and complying with global regulations. The effects of the fire protection systems vary significantly depending on the application technology, but the emphasis should always be on safety. Note de contenu : - Higher energy densities lead to higher fire loads
- Application processes for liquid flame-retardant materials
- Challenge resolved : Application of two-component materials with flat fan nozzles
- Sustainability and cost-effectivenes go hand-in-hand
- Fig. 1 : If an individual cell overheats, this can cause a dangerous chain reaction inside the battery. The occupants must have at least five minutes to escape after the alarm is activated
- Fig. 2 : This automated system is ideal for applying liquid flame-retardant materials in battery manufacturing
- Fig. 3 : Different methods are available for the application of liquid flame-retardant materials in battery production. Flat fan nozzles have significant advantages over airless spray nozzles
- Fig. 4 : The new applicator allows two-component flame-retardant materials to be applied neatly and reliably with a wide flat fan nozzle for the first time. The FlexS.Seal has an additional needle valve which optimizes the application pressure and ensures that the material is applied with clean edges
