IgnifugeantsComposé chimique utilisé pour réduire l'inflammabilité. Il peut être incorporé au produit durant sa fabrication ou appliqué ultérieurement à sa surface.Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : According to the New York Times, two million passengers in the US board more than 30 000 flights every day. Based on 2008 data, 93 000 worldwide flights took off from approximately 9000 airports. And, at all times in a 24 hours period, there were between eight and 13 000 aeroplanes in the air.
These snapshot figures indicate the importance of leather upholstery to the aviation industry. It can be assumed that most of the flights today are on short-haul domestic or regional routes, when the aircraft usually has to be made ready for the next flight in a short space of time. Turn around times need to be fast, and leather-upholstered seats help.
Airlines increasingly appreciate the attributes of leather : its easy-clean properties, abrasion resistance, longevity and the fact that consumers see leather as a luxury upholstery material, creating an attractive ambience for travel. Achieving all the required properties and meeting the physical and chemical standards demanded by the aviation industry presents a challenge to the tanner supplying the leather, especially when compounded by the increasing demand for lighter-weight leathers and the all-important fire-retardant finish.Note de contenu : - Inherently flame resistant
