Titre : Study of soft side upper leather retanned with multi-functional tanning agent - MTA Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jianzhong Ma, Auteur ; Zongsui Yang, Auteur ; Xiao Yaomin, Auteur Année de publication : 1995 Article en page(s) : p. 107-109 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Application of MTA in the retannage of soft cattlehide upper leather has been studied by the official test (Beijing University test). The results show that the leathers are of high quality with good grain, fullness and elasticity. Furthermore, MTA is convenient to use and does not affect the dyeing or fatliquoring. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : The thermal stability and the changes in collagen structure of pig hide tanned with poly(methacrylic acid) (PMMA) were studied by DSC, SEM and X ray diffraction. The paper compares the crystallinity and thermal stability of the hide with that of the leather. It shows that, in dried speciments, the crosslinging between collagen and the PMAA occurs mainly through Coulombic interaction. The formation of the network causes an increase in the denaturation temperatur (thermal stability), causes the fibres to be separated and results in a fall in crystallinity of the collagen. In order to investigate the mechanism of the thermal denaturation of the leather the middle stage of thermal denaturation has been investigate in this paper. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This work is focused on the influence of tanning, the type of finishing, presence of carbon black and humidity on the electric conductivity of leather measured as semi-discharge time using a Rothschild Static Voltmeter. It isobserved that the presence of humidity is the determining factor in the electrical conductivity of leather and that the influence of the other factors (tanning, type of finishing and carbon black) must be measured on dry leather. Chrome tanning and carbon black improve the electric conductivity of leather as does mixed and cationic finishing. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Extraction of dyes from leather followed by spectrophotometric analysis is of technical and commercial importance. During the extraction process, vegetable tannins are co-extracted with the dyes and interfere during the subsquent spectrophotometric estimation of dyes. The interferences caused by vegetable tannins are eliminated by separating the anionic leather dyes as ion-pairs with tetra n-butylammoniumchloride in chloroform from the dye-tannin mixtures in 50 % aqueous dimethylformamide prior to analysis. Mariappan, Auteur Année de publication : 1995 Article en page(s) : p. 123-126 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Sulphide in limeyard waste-water is generally estimated to be present at levels of the order of 2,000-3,000 mg/l. Oxidation by air in the presence of manganese sulphate as catalyst is a possible removal technique but there is a likelihood of increasing the level of Total Dissolved Solids (tDS) in the effluent. Rice bran based granular activated carbon may be used as a catalyst to oxidise sulphide (up to 90 %) by air, irrespective of the initial concentration of sulphide The efficiency of removal of sulphide increases to 99 % when an activated carbon packed counter current reactor is used. During the oxidation of sulphide in limeyard waste-water, 92 % of the total oxygen demand and 90 % of the dissolved protein were removed.
