The results of the scanner calibration test show improved consistency in the mottle values between different scanners. This would allow many locations to have their own analysis station without compromising a "universal" measurement. The mottle measurements of the Heidelberg standards correspond to the visual ranking. The robustness of the scanner method was shown by tests of prints on different substrates. Finally, a modified version of the analysis shows that halftone prints can also be tested. The method described here shows good agreement with the Tobias mottle tester. Simulation, Méthode deIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : On the basis of simulated prints, a customer can decide on the colour appropriateness for a selected pattern. This article presents the possibilities and correct procedure for colour management application in the field of digital printing onto a textile substrate. The aim of the research was to establish whether long-term and expensive pre- and after-treatments can be avoided with the help of an appropriate development of printer profiles. The latter would be conducted through a print simulation on paper printed with a Canon laser or ink-jet printer. The results have confirmed that a print simulation on paper can be conducted with both printers, while a Canon ink-jet printer offers better results. In addition, by calculating the colour inconstancy index CMCCON02, the illuminant influence on the colour change of substrates under five different illuminations was determined. The results showed that simulated colours should be compared with original colours under daylight illuminants (D50, D55 and D75), while indoor illuminants A and F2 are not appropriate for a comparison, especially in the case of simulation with a Canon ink-jet printer (CMCCON02 index >5). StatistiquesIndex. décimale : 535.6 Couleur Résumé : Ocular prostheses have been used for centuries to restore patient confidence, psychosocial relationships and to improve quality of life. Methodology for producing accurate prostheses has improved with technological discoveries. Recently, hand painting ocular prostheses has been the go-to method for creating life like prostheses. However, digital printing a print to envelope around an acrylic prosthesis has been shown to decrease treatment and rehabilitation times, whilst still producing high-definition ocular prostheses. Despite these improvements, little is known about the colour stability of digitally printed ocular prostheses. To better understand the colour stability of digital prostheses 30 samples simulating ocular prostheses were created, containing 10 with blue iris, 10 combination/green iris and 10 with sepia (brown) irises. Colour measurements were taken using a data spectrophotometer, from two defined points, the iris and sclera for both pre-polymerisation and post-polymerisation to assess colour variance. Colour coordinate data was gathered and was analysed using a one-way analysis of variance test and a paired t-test, both with alpha = 0.05. Significant colour variations were found for each iris colour and for the sclera. The sclera showed the largest colour variation with a ΔE of 4.75, followed by the brown irises, the green irises and then blue irises with ΔE values of 3.29, 2.47 and 1.82, respectively. This is a significant decrease compared to current hand painting methods which have an average colour variance of ΔE = 20. This shows a large increase in colour stability which can drastically improve patient satisfaction and quality of life. Taches (défauts)Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Print non-uniformity is the variation of optical density (reflection) on the print and can occur in several different types that can be classified into two basic groups: random and systematic variations. This article examines two types from each group of variations that are most commonly found in digital printing systems: blotches and streaks, where amplitude and size were varied. Three most commonly used methods for measuring the print nonuniformity were used: Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), ISO 13660 and Integration (also Improved Integration) method. The results obtained by measuring were compared with a visual assessment to find the link between objective and subjective analysis and to define and determine which method/parameter is the best for the measurement of which type of print (non)uniformity. The obtained results indicate the possibility of selecting the measurement parameter, but that the choice of the parameter depends on the type of nonuniformity. It is concluded that in the case of the GLCM method, the entropy and energy parameters are strongly related to the visual assessment for all three sets of samples. These parameters can be used regardless of the type of nonuniformity. The ISO G parameter can be used to measure both graininess and mottling, while the ISO M parameter is only suitable for measuring mottling. Integration method could be used to measure systematic error. On the basis of conclusions of the research, it is possible to propose the development of an industrially applicable solution for measuring print nonuniformity of digitally printed samples. vision des couleursIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : As image-capturing devices, such as scanners or digital cameras, normally describe data in RGB colour space, it is impossible to get a complete raw spectral description of a sample’s colour. Device characterisation enables conversion of RGB values to corresponding XYZ tristimulus values of a sample. For transformation of tristimulus values from one illuminant to another, chromatic adaptation transforms should be used. Within our research, chromatic adaptation transforms were implemented in the field of digital textile printing of textile substrate with reactive dyes. Five chromatic adaptation transforms were investigated and their performance was assessed with cluster analysis. Results showed that the lowest mean colour differences were generated with the D50-D65 illuminant pair, followed by D50-A and D65-A. The same performance ranking of different chromatic adaptation transforms was obtained for both D50-A and D65-A illuminant pairs. The Bradford method showed the best results irrespective of the examined illuminant pair combination.
