Tanning is one of the first economies to grow in any developing economy, as it adds value to the growing meat by-products industry, is labor intensive, develops an infrastructure that is used for technologies following and most important - it is easy as the chemicals and machinery supply is readily available. For the North American leather industry to survive and prosper into the next century greater attention to detail and customer awareness is essential. Westren economies need to produce their "high tech" products faster, with more variety and lower cost. The efficiency of the leather industry is not just the business of making more and more product and keeping coests down by sheer volume. Companies need an integrated strategy involving technology, volume, marketing and making the best use of resources - that is raw materials and people. This presentation today is designed to stimulate thoughts on the way that attention to detail in improvements in efficiency could have on the financial bottom line and I should explain the terms GRAB ! A cattle identification system consisting of a combination of plastic ear tags and electronic microchips was considered. A cost analysis of this system was conducted to determine whether it would be feasible for cattle producers to adopt in economically feasible to use the joint microchip and ear tag identification system under current economic conditions. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This study evaluates the combination of a lipase and a mild protease enzyme to clean the surface of chrome tanned stock of grease, dirt, scud, and other stains, for the purpose of making more uniformly colored leather. A significant reduction was found in grease stains, neck wrinkle discoloration, and other stains. Also , an improvement was observed in the brightness and uniformity of dyeing - backbone to belly and side to side within a mill. This was accomplished using extremely low amounts of a combination of two enzymes selected to be particularly active in the conditions of retanning with respect to pH, temperature, running times, and presence of other chemicals.
