Tannage Résumé : The concept of wet white pretanning as an environmentally friendly technique for chrome reduction has been with us for some time. It was first recommended as lons ago as the late 1970's/early 1980's. Since its initial introduction to the leather industry a number of chemical companies have developed materials for use as pretanning agents. These materials have all had the same goal-namely the reduction of chrome in the effluent via reducedchrome usage. They have also had the aim of reducing chrome in the solid waste stream via completion of the splitting and shaving operations prior to chrome tannage.
Despite numerous development programs by both independent research units and chemical companies the concept has never reached its full potential. This paper will review the advantages and disadvantages of the wet white system. It will also attempt to answer the question of why the concept has never been fully accepted by the industry.Note de contenu : - TECHNICAL ASPECTS : System requirements - Storage stability - Easy sorting and grading - Simple method of manufacture - Use of low pollution chemicals - Versatility - Maintenance of leather performance and character - Economic production costs En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Z7uE6x7gDfViv3EZCndlpuptmSB_rLI9/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=7943

Titre : Wet white - pretanning withe the "derugan" system Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Stephen Wren, Auteur ; Michael Saddington, Auteur Année de publication : 1995 Article en page(s) : p. 146-153 Langues : Américain (ame) Catégories : Prétannage
Wet-white (tannage)Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : This paper briefly reviews the history of the "wet white" principle and lays out schill and seilacher's criteria for the production of commercially viable leathers using the patented derugan pretanning products. General principles of application are discussed for both split and unsplit bovine hides, as well as for small skins such as sheep, pig, and goat. Details of environmental adventages and by-product utilization are given. These include reduction/elimination of chrome-containing waste such as shavings and trimmings, increased efficiency of subsequent chrome tannage and easier degreasing of small skins such as sheep or pig. A summary of by-product studies are covered, reporting on the use shavings for fertilizer and protein supplements for animal feed. Commercial aspects are also discussed. Reports from production experiences demonstrates yield increases and chemical saving when compared with blue splitting and shaving. Observations on quality improvement and the ability to make non-chrome leathers, if desired, are also noted.
