It is the study of these application parameters that may be of most interest to the industrial finisher yet possibly the least quantified by the supplier. In this paper, we explore the effect of each of these application parameters as it applies to one key variable-wet rub resistance.Wet rub is a highly sought after property and is appropriate for study because it is one that has been affected by the industry's switch from solvent to water systems. Tannage Résumé : The requirements on the quality of drum dyed leather has increased steadily in recent years. This trend is due to the increasing demand for straight aniline, or only slightly finished leathers. This development is confronted with the increasingly poorer quality of the available rawstock.Efforts should therefore be made to hide grain faults to a large extent already during drum dyeing. The parameters promoting the accentuation of grain faults during the tanning, retanning and dyeing processes were therefore investigated.Comparative trials were carried out to determine the effect of tanning, retanning and dyeing on the coloring of grain faults.Furthermore, the influence of the chemical structure of retanning agents, dyeing auxiliaries and dyes on the quality of the resulting dyeings was investigated.Another part of this paper deals with the application of pigment preparations during drum dyeing. The results of the study show that it is possible to hide grain faults to a certain extent by the use of appropriate retanning and dyeing processes, specific dyeing auxiliaries, selected dyes, and aniline dyes in conjunction with special pigments. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Acylic retan/fatliquors have made an immediate impact on leather processing, offering previously unobtainable combinations of softness, strength and water resistance.Commercial acceptance of the first two products of this new technology has been rapid, principal areas of use being high performance waterproof leathers. This paper describes the latest advances in the development of lubricating acrylic retans that provide a material with much greater versatility in the production of a wide range of leather types.Apart from general benefits of shorter, simpler processes, resultant leathers may also show clear technical superiority, for example, very low fogging(automative leather), bright and level dyeing(especially on suede splits), and excellent fastness toward heat and light.Full process details and results of leather testing are presented.
