Tannage Résumé : The Michael Reaction has been used with an acrylic-acid derivative to provide additional carboxyl binding sites on collagen during processing of hides into leather. The crosslinked product had a higher shrinkage temperature and a considerably lower lysine and hydroxylysine content than conventionally processed hides. Subsequent tanning led to a higher chrome uptake than that found in the untreated control. The results indicated that both direct crosslinking and improved chrome tanning are possible with this derivative but that these are accompanied by some loss of tensile strength En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B2RiLHhKURvVOJE4M_0wUHDk_BoPn5zo/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8493

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Enzymic processing of chrome shavings has been shown to be a viable treatment of this waste product. Proteolytic enzymes, active at moderate temperatures, are effective in solubilizing the protein and, since the reaction takes place at an alkaline pH, the chromium remains insoluble. Various alkalinity-inducing agents, such as magnesium oxide, alone or in combination with calcium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate, can be employed to maintain the optimal environment for enzyme hydrolysis. These systems can be tailored to match the varied chrome-recycling steps that different tanneries employ. Some of these systems have improved the rate of solubilization of the shavings while lowering the required amount of enzyme, thus making the process more cost-effective. Titre : Removal of collagens VI and XII by beamhouse chemistry Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Paul L. Kronick, Auteur ; Beverly E. Maleeff, Auteur ; Matthew P. Dahms, Auteur Année de publication : 1991 Article en page(s) : p. 209-224 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Hides are prepared in the beamhouse for tanning by removing nonfibrous proteins from among the collagen fibrils. We now know that some of this proteins also contains type of collagen that do not form fibrils. This material might be expected to resist the drastic chemical treatments of the beamhouse, as does the collagen type 1 of the fibers. Using immunochemical stains, we have examined the persistence of two such nonfibrillar collagens, types 6 and 12, through simulatedliming, bating (trypsin digestion), and pickling. Both collagens persisted after treatment with lime, but the antigenic site on the molecule of the collagen type 12 was removed by trypsin. Collagen type 6 resisted all the treatments. Beamhouse treatments eliminate at least part of the type 12 molecule, which is found on the surfaces of the fibrils, but leaves type 6, which is present in very fine strands that connect the fibrils of type 1/3/5. These remnant proteins can complicate the use of syntans, fatliquors, and dyes, which act on the surfaces of the fibrils.
