People have now become more conscious ofthe adverse effects of toxic chemicals used in industries. Efforts must be made by the chemical industries not to pollute the environment from the inadvertent release of toxic chemicals into the ecological system. The article discusses the use ofconcrete as a secondary containment. Applicable regulations, concrete design, and surface preparation for lining applications have been reviewed. An attempt has been made to summarize the various lining systems available for protecting concrete in secondary containment. Note de contenu : - Concrete as secondary containment structure
- Regulations
- Concrete design : Concrete mix – Concrete joint design – Concrete cure
- Surface preparation : Moisture content in concrete – Crack treatment
- Lining characteristics / formulation
- Selecting coating and lining for concrete in secondary containment : Chemical resistant masonry – Thermoplastic sheets

Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Industrie peinture vernis' 'Composé organique volatil' 'Pollution air' 'Prévention pollution' Formulation Législation Inde Asie Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There have been growing restrictions on the use of solvents in organic coating formulations because they decompose or participate in chemical reactions under the influence of sunlight with traces of substances present in the atmosphere and produce photochemical pollutants. The increasing social, environmental pollution and political awareness over the years led to a creation of regulatory bodies. The information about the enactment of Rule 66, Safety Health and Environment, Environmental Protection Agency, OSHA and United Nations Volatile Organic Component-Protocol as well as several other aspects has been reviewed. The problems associated with volatile organic components, the various options to control them, the strategy and the response of the paint industry, the possibilities in eco-friendly coating formulations, their advantages and limitations are described. Note de contenu : - Enactment of rule 66 on the use of organic solvents
- Safety, health and environment
- Environmental protection agency, EPA
- Volatile organic component, VOC
- VOC, a cause for ozone generation
- Options to control VOCs : VOC exempt solvents or compliant solvents – Photochemical ozone creation potential, POCP – Solvent recovery – Biofiltration
- The united nations VOC protocol
- VOC in Indian paint industry
- Paint industry response
- Strategy of paint industry
- Eco-friendly possibilities in paint formulation

Phthalocyanine pigments, the most important of these, have been treated comprehensively in the literature. In the present communication, we are discussing the not less important pigments, other than phthalocyanine, with respect to their significance, applications and properties.
