Titre : Spacing for better effects : Influence of fine particle size extenders and entrapped air on utilisation of TiO2 in emulsion paints Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Paul Dietz, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 14-20 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : A number of interactions can occur between titanium dioxide and mineral extenders, which can effect a range of paint properties, such as rheology, durability, opacity and scrub resistance, some of which are not fully appreciated. This paper look at one of these interactions, TiO2 spacing by extenders, and the effect it has on the optical properties and scrub resistance of emulsion paints. Evaluation of the possible TiO2 savings suggest that, while small reductions (ca. 5%) in TiO2 loadings could be made with flash calcined extenders in certain paint systems, implementing greater savings, as suggested by the manufacturers, led to detrimental effects on several other important paint properties. Titre : Keep on eye on the acid value : Structure-property relations of incompatible resin blends for effective gloss control of polyester-b-hydroxyalkylamide powder coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Damiano Beccaria, Auteur ; Andrea Capra, Auteur ; Imir Bejko, Auteur ; Louis T. Germinario, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 21-25 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Precise gloss control of powder coatings is a major issue, especially since TGIC-free formulations have mad this task more difficult. However, detailed structure-property analyses of blends of polyester-β-hydroxyalkylamide systems based on different, incompatible resins reveal, that the difference in acid value between the two resins in the blends can serve as a very reliable gloss determinating property. Titre : Colour change in OEM coatings after weathering Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Carlos E. Vignolo, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 26-30 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this article the colourimetrical meaning of a grey scale is evaluated, aiming to find the key of the correlation between the visual assessment and colour difference formulae. The case of straight shades and effect coatings are considering as well. A simple empirical formula based on the well-known colour tolerances for controlling and supplying paint batches was found as the numerical results of deviation after exposure of a grey scale was computed. A general colourimetrical rule can thus be used for an objective evaluation of the results. Titre : Catch the worm in four dimensions Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jörg Schröder, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 31-37 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The Cohesion Parameter Concept (CPC) is a theoretical method to describe the interactions between the main components of a coating formulation, i.e. binder, solvent, and pigments – analogous to the Hansen Solubility Parameter Concept. An improvement of that method is reported here : two parameters are used to describe hydrogen bonds/acid-base interactions more realistically – in total, the model then uses four parameters. With this modification, the model allows for a realistic evaluation and optimisation of coating formulations in terms of their thermodynamic stability. Note de contenu : A method to judge formulations thermodynamically / H-Bonds are better described by two parameters / Exchange energy density – the more negative, the better / Adapt δD and δP of the components, do not adapt δA and δB / How to determine the values for the new parameters? / Assessing the fundamentals of a pigment dispersion / Comparison between theory/experiment : better prediction with 4D-CPC / Visualise the model En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xb9apcNJHBGI3uf8qRja2FTiXzNLj2Ms/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9478

Functional binders exhibiting anti-graffiti and anti-soiling properties are attracting ever increasing interest in the areas of research and development. A novel waterborne fluoro-modified 1-part or 2-part polyurethane system already meets all requirements of the VOC guideline of the European Community (EC Guideling 1999/13), generates surfaces with extremely low critical surface tensions and is comparable to "Teflon". RevêtementsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The extent to which disturbing particles can be removed from coatings materials depends on the size of the particles and the consistency of the material. Whilst dirt particles with a large diameter can be removed by means of surface filtration, this is not so easily done with small particles. The only possibility here is deep filtration. There is a wide range of such filtering methods and materials available, which will be described in this article. Note de contenu : - Random-laid non-woven fabric as filter-material
