With the help of a variety of model dispersions, the current work continues to look at the two binder types by studying how chemically different monomers affect the film properties and those of formulated paints. Note de contenu : - MODEL DISPERSIONS WITH TYPICAL BINDER MONOMERS
- RESULTS OF TESTS ON THE POLYMER DISPERSION FILMS : Good water solubility of monomer causes high water uptake of the polymer film - High Water-vapour transmission rate relates to hydrophilic polymer - Repeated washing and drying influences the tensile strenght - n-butylacrylate copolymers exhibits the greatest photostability, styrene lowers the photostability - High styrene content efectuate yellowing of the pure binder during artificial weathering - Results of natural weathering are contradictive to the accelerated artificial weathering tests
- RESULTS OF TESTS ON PIGMENTED COATING : Water absorption, WVTR's and tensile strengths of the pigmented paints
- WEATHERING OF THE PAINF FILMS : Artificial weathering shows differences in the chalking behaviour but not concerning yellowing - Dirt pick-up-resistance is enhanced by binders'Tg and hydrophobicity - Interpretation of the study resultsEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lADJoXg6Oo26qZOwU2bHfLKc0Fd7lXuf/view?usp=drive [...]

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The use of surfactants to make aqueous polymer dispersions (by emulsion polymerisation) causes problems in the final adhesives or coating film. This article describes a new non-migratory surfactant (NMS) technology that has application in the mainstream market. The advantages of the NMS technology are demonstrated by comparing their performance against formulations containing conventional surfactants. Latices prepared with NMS exhibit a superior colloidal stability and can be used to make virtually water insensitive dry polymer films with high gloss and low blooming. Use of NMS improves protection of the substrate, durability of the coating, together with improved appearance and handling properties. Note de contenu : - Surfactants play a crucial role during production of emulsion polymers
- Two new non-migratory surfactants are alkenyl functional and nonionic
- Improvement of latex performance
- Vinylacetate/butylacrylate system
- Freeze - thaw behaviour
- Superior performance of the latex stabilized with NMS
- Film cast from the latex stabilised with NMS showed much better water resistance
- Improved abrasion and gloss
- Methyl methacrylate/butylacrylate systems
- With Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) no evidence of surfactant migration was observed
- Liquid water permeability was higher by use of conventional surfactantEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mr739batqMwYuQstLZDUKy_sFQ7EygeN/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10959 [article]Réservation

Titre : Matting on colour Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Irena. J. Zvonkina, Auteur ; Eugene A. Indeikin, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 71-75 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Matting of polymeric pigmented coatings decreases the gloss of surfaces and influences also the changes in the colour properties of coatings due to the processes occurring in the lacquer layer. For this reason, it is important to investigate the changes in the colour caused by adding a matting agent. In this work, the tendency of the changes in the optical properties is described and the optical processes affecting these alterations are discussed. Note de contenu : - Different refraction indices achieve matting effects
- Optical process within a two layer system
- Filler concentration has a "turning" point due to matting
- An increase of particle size affects the reflection ability
- Matting agents shift colour to the red region
- Filler concentration at a saturated value
- Bathochromatic effect and additive concentration with saturated valueEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/10wUR0Nkz3iP0peZjOv4FsN5QXG3lH3q3/view?usp=drive [...]

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Thermal stimulated depolarization current (TSDC) was applied to examine the cohesive and adhesive interactions of polymeric coatings. With this method it was found that the curing of the two-pack alkyd melamine, epoxy and polyurethane coatings as well as the interactions with pigments, fillers and metallic substrates can be evaluated from changes in the a relaxation or shifts in the glass transition temperature. Together with complimentary tests, the measurements showed that the preferential adsorption of a hardener on the metal substrate is an important factor, which can decisively influence the adhesion of coatings. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Specimens and coatings - TSDC - DMTA/DMA - SVET - Blister test - µ-TA
- Hardener content affects AKM and EPO or PUR coatings differently
- Hardener adsorption on pigments/fillers could cause undercuring
- Surface oxidation lowers Tg in the coatings
- Correlation of TSDC with standard methods
- SVET and blister test show correlation of TG decrease with delamination resistance

Titre : Paint resins stabilize aluminium pigment Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Bodo Müller, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 81-83 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Paint resins can inhibit the hydrogen evolution of aluminium pigment in aqueous alkaline media. The three examined saturated polyesters are the (relatively) worst group of corrosion inhibitors in this study. Increasing resin addition effects a decreasing hydrogen evolution, i.e., an increasing stability. The most important factor controlling the hydrogen formation is the pH value because with all examined paint resins the hydrogen volumes evolved at pH 8 are very much lower than at pH 10. Note de contenu : - Experimental method
- Drying alkyd resins are able to stabilize aluminium pigment at pH 10
- pH 8 a more realistic medium
- Higher resin concentration causes better stabilization effects
- Corrosion inhibition is better provable at high pH-valuesEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EqX3Yx2xVaFgwB0SaXCnBCK14KcnNUG6/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10962 [article]Réservation
