Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To guide the development of mar resistant coatings, new test instruments and test methods are under development. The efforts seem to have begun from two points: first indentation and scratching for studying wear, and second atomic force microscopy. Several of these micro- and nano-scale methods were compared by testing a series of hydroxy-functional acrylic/melamine-formaldehyde coatings having a wide range of mar resistance. A Fischer-scope H100' was used to do micro-scale instrumented indentation, a Triboscope' was used to do nano-indentation and nano-scratching, and a prototype micro-scale scratch tester was used to do scratch tests. Universal hardness, creep rate and residual indentation depth were self-correlated. Mar resistance was best when universal hardness was lowest. Micro-scratching was found to reveal qualitative differences that correlated with mar resistance, including resistance to cracking during scratching. Note de contenu : - What mar resistance is

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The evolution of legislation towards the reduction of VOC's led to the development of high solids coatings, soon followed by the development of the first two-pack water-borne polyurethane coatings. This paper provides an overview of the main aspects of formulation of waterborne polyurethane coatings as well as raising some questions before a project is started in such an area of research. Note de contenu : - To reduce VOC's water must be utilized

Titre : Rheology control additives Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Vladimir V. Verkholantsev, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 66-71 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Flow behavior is one of the most important features of coating compositions, influencing their application and film formation. There is a wide range of rheological additives available to the formulator that usually can render liquid coating compositions the flow characteristics specific for their proper processing, shelf stability, application properties and defect-free end coatings. This article considers rheology control additives and their functions in paint and coatings.
