Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The effects of the composition of vinyl polymer tannages on the physical properties of leather have been systematically studied with a statistical two-power regression orthogonal design1. Fracture energy was measured along with tensile strength, elongation and tensile modulus for a wide variety of syntan treated pigskin leathers. Eight monomers: acrylonitrile (AN) , acrylamide (AM), methyl acrylic acid (MAA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), vinyl acetate (VAc), methyl acrylate (MA), ethyl acrylate (EA), and butyl acrylate (BA) were chosen respectively to copolymerize with acrylic acid (AA) to form the corresponding copolymers. Tests showed the excellent physical properties of leather treated by the hexa-copolymer composed of AA, AN, AM, MMA, VAc and EA. After performing the retanning application test by using these copolymers as tannages, the physical properties of the retanned leather samples, such as tensile strength, elongation at break, toughness (fracture energy), and stiffness (Young's modulus ) were measured. The results showed the comonomer ratio of vinyl polymer tannages can greatly affect the physical properties of leather. If the comonomer ratio of the hexa-copolymer composed of AA, AN, AM, MMA, VAc and EA is optimized, the hexa-copolymer tannages can offer significant improvements in the tensile strength, elongation at break, toughness (fracture energy), and softness of the leather samples. Tannage Résumé : A multi-functional tanning agent has been synthesized by free radical co-polymerisation in water and the factors which affect the polymerisation are discussed. The conditions and properties of MTA used in leather tanning have been studied. The results show that MTA may be used in pretanning, retanning and filing. Thus the level of chrome tanning saltsused may be made more economic and thus pollution due to chrome may be reduced. Leathers produced using MTA appear to be ofhigh quality. The use of MTA does not affect the dyeing or fatliquoring of chromed leather. The chrome-shavings were hydrolyzed without de-chroming and were then modified by grafting with vinyl monomers. To provide proof of grafting, the modified hydrolysate was identified by indanthrone, and infrared spectroscopy (IR) The amino acid composition of the hydrolysate and modified hydrolysate were analysed. The results show that the vinyl polymer had been grafted on the polypeptide chains of the hydrolysate with covalent bonds.
This protein retanning agent containing chrome was beneficial to the utilization of chrome shavings. Good stretch and filling properties were obtained from leather retanned with this agent.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE : Hydrolysis of chrome-shavings - Comparison application experiment with the modified chrome shavings hydrolysate - Proof of grafting modification of chrome-shavings hydrolysate

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The modified poly(acrylic acid-acrylonitrile) (P(AA-AN)) with Mannich reaction was synthesized and characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and IR. It was shown that the carboxyl ?-H of P(AA-AN), under the proper conditions, has enough activity to react with Mannich reagents. The resulting modified product, named ASF, was used in the retanning of goatskin garment leather. The application results of ASF showed that it can improve the dyeing property of the wet leather retanned with it and it has an excellent filling and obvious selective filling properties. The comprehensive properties of ASF were quite acceptable.
