Tannage Résumé : In this work, two chemometric approaches were used for the simultaneous determination of 2-(thiocyanomethylthiol)benzothiazole(TCMBT) and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole(MBT) in chrome tanning liquors, by extraction - UV/Vis spectrophotometry. The experimental procedure was as follows: take 100 ml of the sample, add 50 ml of acetonitrile and 100 ml of 2 M phosphoric acid (final pH 2), extract the two analytes with 750 ml of ethyl acetate and measure the absorption spectra in the wavelength range 280 - 350 nm. The calibration solutions contained 100 ml of the fungicide - free liquor for matrix matching. These same absorption spectra were used for the univariate third derivative approach and for the method PLS2. There was no statistically significant difference between the results of the two proposed procedures and HPLC results (ANOVA, p < 0.05), indicating that the two chemometric approaches coupled to extraction - spectrophotometric measurement can be recommended as a good alternative for the chromatographic method. The important advantages of the proposed procedures are their simplicity, low consumption of reagents and the high speed of the analysis: using PLS2 approach, the response for the two compounds in the concentration units corresponded to liquor sample is obtained within less than 5 min from sample collection.
