Sorgho et constituantsIndex. décimale : 628.53 Pollution de l'air et lutte antipollution Résumé : As an energy crop, sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) receives increasing attention for phytoremediation and biofuels production due to its good stress tolerance and high biomass with low input requirements. Sweet sorghum possesses wide adaptability, which also has high tolerances to poor soil conditions and drought. Its rapid growth with the large storage of fermentable saccharides in the stalks offers considerable scope for bioethanol production. Additionally, sweet sorghum has heavy metal tolerance and the ability to remove cadmium (Cd) in particular. Therefore, sweet sorghum has great potential to build a sustainable phytoremediation system for Cd-polluted soil remediation and simultaneous ethanol production. To implement this strategy, further efforts are in demand for sweet sorghum in terms of screening superior varieties, improving phytoremediation capacity, and efficient bioethanol production. In this review, current research advances of sweet sorghum including agronomic requirements, phytoremediation of Cd pollution, bioethanol production, and breeding are discussed. Furthermore, crucial problems for future utilization of sweet sorghum stalks after phytoremediation are combed. TriéthanolamineIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, size-tunable magnetite (Fe3O4) nanocrystal spheres were promptly synthesized by a facile one-pot solvothermal process with the presence of triethanolamine as an additive. The as-synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. The results showed that the synthesized nanoparticles were in the size range of 30–350 nm, had well-defined Fe3O4 crystal phase, and had favorable saturation magnetization. The effects of various important parameters, such as initial Cr(VI) concentration, temperature, and pH, on the adsorption properties of the as-obtained Fe3O4 particles for the removal of Cr(VI) in aqueous solution were deeply analyzed and studied. The results confirmed that the adsorption efficiency was highly pH dependent, decreased with the increasing of initial concentration of Cr(VI), and increased with increasing temperature. The adsorption data were well fitted with the Langmuir isotherm. The maximum adsorption capacity calculated from the Langmuir isotherm was 56.625 mg g−1 at temperature of 35°C and pH of 2.0. Titre : Theoretical elucidation of the structure-activity relationship for tannins used to scavenge radicals Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Wenhua Zhang, Auteur ; Bi Shi, Auteur Année de publication : 2005 Article en page(s) : p. 137-140 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Tannage Résumé : Tannin extracts have been used to scavenge free radicals and prevent chromium VI formation in leathers tanned with chrome salts, but their structure-activity relationship has not been clarified theoretically. In this paper, model tannin compounds representing condensed tannins and hydrolysable tannins were evaluated using the approach of computational chemistry. By using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) method, two kinds of theoretical parameters, i.e. OH bond dissociation energy (BDE) and adiabatic ionization potential (IP), were obtained to characterize H-atom transfer and concerted proton electron transfer mechanisms respectively in the free radical scavenging process.
Both BDE and IP, gave the order of free radical scavenging activity : EGCG>ECG>EGC>EC, and digallic acid >ellagic acid. Furthermore, all the calculation results from electron transfer mechanism and H-abstraction mechanism indicated that the condensed tannins that contain galloyl groups seem to possess the highest free radical scavenging activity.Note de contenu : - Table : BDEO-Hs and IPs of model compounds of tannins calculated using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) method En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zECf_2n74I7LyvkHaCZH-bfQpalIcjol/view?usp=share [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=39243

Récupération (Déchets, etc.)Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Chromium is the basis of leather manufacture and its extractable reserves are limited in distribution, mainly in South Africa, Zimbabwe and ex-USSR countries. Almost 20% of the metal is used by the chemical industry where one third of it goes into leather production as chromium sulphate tanning agent.
The European Union depends on chromium imports.
After burning leather scrap—tanned with chromium sulphate-the resulting very rich chromium ashes may present chromium (VI) in such a concentration that it becomes a hazardous waste and needs careful handling.
Thus, both economic and environmental reasons suggest the use of these ashes. This paper mainly summarizes some of the conclusions of the research carried out during the execution of CRAFT project BRST-CT96-5085, where leather incineration ashes generated by two different pilot combustion systems, respectively a fixed grill incinerator (FGI) and a fluidized bed incinerator (FBI) were characterized and chromium was leached using a mixed pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical route as well as a full hydrometallurgical route.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Methods and procedure
