Chaulage
Croûte (cuir)On entend par "cuir en croûte" des cuirs ayant subi les opérations jusqu'au tannage, à l'exclusion de toute opération de corroyage ou de finissage, mais qui, par opposition aux wet-blue ont été séchés.

Tannage au chromeIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The control of pH of a process plays an important role in many chemical or biological reactions. The monitoring and control of pH of processes like wastewater treatment, manufacturing food and leather making facilitate to reduce pollution and improve the quality of the final product. The focus of this study is to optimize the usage of lime and recycling of spent liquor through continuous monitoring system of pH to achieve near zero residue from liming operation. But the challenges are nonlinear behaviour of the system and frequent fouling of pH sensors. The system developed monitors the pH values and controls the cycling time and the addition of lime as per the user set profile. The real time data of pH values in the process is logged on to the PC for further analysis. The efficacy of the system developed was validated at lab level and can be easily scaled up for implementation in industries. The results showed that the effluent from leather making can be minimized by adopting automated pH monitoring and control systems. Note de contenu : - Materials and methods

OzonationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Experiments were conducted on treatment of leather effluent by ozonation covering wide range in operating conditions. The influence of parameters such as influent pH, ozone flow rate and initial effluent concentration on ozonation efficiency has been critically examined. A maximum of COD removal efficiency of 92% has been achieved under optimum operating conditions. The ozonation of leather effluent has been modeled using pseudo first order kinetics. It has been observed from the present investigation that the biodegradability index of the tannery effluent has increased from an initial value of 0.18 to 0.49 due to ozonation indicating favorable adaptation of the technique as primer for biochemical methods. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The leather industry is one of the major consumers of significant quantities of water. There is an urgent need for tanners to conserve water and effect process modifications leading to minimizing the consumption of water, which is currently recognized and adopted to varying extent. As the monsoon fails quite often and the underground water is drastically decreasing, recourses to suitable technologies become essential, especially in tropical countries. Need for specific quality of water for different operations do pose restrictions on use of water from different sources, This paper deals with a study made on use of seawater for leathers processing. The results indicate that pre-treated seawater could be used for select operations in leather processing without any impairment in the leather quality.
