To bring maximum flexibility to formulators in meeting both regulatory stipulations and consumer needs, DSM has introduced a new UVA filter to its portfolia.
UVB protection and SPF are essential components of sunscreen products. Yet as formulators, are we giving enough attention to UVA protection ? There are good reasons why we should do so. In part, due to regulatory requirements in different global markets, but also to provide consumers with products that help protect facial skin against signs of photoageing, such as lines and wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation − both which are known to be caused mainly by UVA radiation. To bring maximum flexibility to formulators in meeting both regulatory stipulations and consumer needs, DSM introduces a second UVA filter, PARSOL® DHHB (Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate), to its portfolio. In this article, we offer a recap of the regulatory requirements for UVA protection and studies in support of the skin care benefits UVA protection could bring as part of everyday, multifunctional products.Note de contenu : - UVA PROTECTION - A REGULATORY OVERVIEW : European Union - USA - APAC - Industry initiatives on measuring UVA protection

Vieillissement cutanéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Despite the mounting evidence that even minimal exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can lead to visible signs of skin aging, and the growing concerns among consumers regarding the impact of sun exposure on facial skin, the regular use of facial UV protection remains relatively low. One contributing factor to this trend is the prevailing belief that sun protection is only necessary when engaging in activities like going to the beach, where the primary concern is avoiding sunburn. However, it is important to recognize that while UV filters effectively shield the skin from sunburn, they also offer a broader range of benefits for skincare. To raise awareness about these advantages, DSM-Firmenich conducted an extensive review of scientific studies exploring the role of UV filters in five key areas: prevention of photoaging, hyperpigmentation prevention, protection against blue light, defence against the risk of skin cancer, and support for skin barrier immunity. In this article, we present a summary of the main findings in each of these areas Note de contenu : - Benefit 1 : daily use of UV filters can help prevent photoageing

Vieillissement cutané -- PréventionIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Despite evidence linking even low levels of UV radiation to visible signs of skin ageing, and consumer concerns about the impact of sun exposure on the face, daily use of facial UV protection is rather on the lower side. One reason for this is a prevailing perception that sun protection is only necessary when on the beach or in other situations when wanting to avoid sunburn. Although UV filters do indeed protect the skin from sunburn, they also deliver a wider range of skin care benefits. To increase awareness of these, DSM has conducted a review of scientific studies into the role UV filters play in five areas: prevention of photo-ageing and hyperpigmentation, protection from blue light, reduction of skin cancer risk, and support for cutaneous immune function. We present a summary of the key topics here. Note de contenu : - UV FILTERS FOR FACIAL CARE - A MARKET WITH UNTAPPED POTENTIAL
