WXith the appropriate UV equipment the advantages to the user are significant. The user can specify the exact moment of curing and as a result achieve miminum curing times. Another benefit is that the adhesives are solvent-free, which ensures a high degree of environmental protection as well as increased safety in the work place.
UV reactive adhesives and casting compounds are one-component and cold-curing reaction systems where the curing mechanism is initiated by UV irradiation. They do not contain solvent and are mainly composed of plastic combined with a photoinitiator. The type of plastic materials employed depends on the application. Acrylates, epoxy resins, silicones or polyester resins are commonly in use.
A UV reactive adhesive that cross-links by means of free radicals is composed of plastic monomers, oligomers, photoinitiators and other additives. In this state, the adhesive can be easily applied. The ultraviolet irradiation splits the photoinitiator into free radicals that initiate the generation of polymer chains. In the cured state, the UV adhesive is composed of cross-linked polymer chains. As the entire adhesive volume has to be irradiated by UV in order to cure completely, at least on the parts that have to bonded, those parts must consist of UV transparent materials.Note de contenu : - Cationic
