In recent times — and over the past year in particular — people have become more aware that the everyday objects and surfaces they touch can harbour microbes, such as bacteria, and that this can lead to cross-contamination. In response, antimicrobial additives, which significantly reduce the growth of microbes, are being integrated into a vast range of products, including paints and coatings.
We are now living in a more hygiene-conscious world, with society increasingly focused on cleanliness and preventing the spread of microbes. People are spending more time sanitising their hands, the surfaces they touch and the products they use, but there has also been a dramatic rise in the demand for antimicrobial additives, which, integrated into products during manufacturing, provide permanent protection against the growth of a wide range of microbes, including bacteria, mould and some viruses. |
