Chavan, Auteur ; Bhavesh P. Patel, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 31-40 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : ABS components are painted with two pack acrylic - isocyanate Polyurethane paints. A common problem faced in the recoating of such components is lifting of the earlier coat, which is more severe at lower Dry Film Thickness [DFT]. The various factors in the formulation which can affect the recoatability performance such as Tg of Acrylic resin used, presence or absence of catalyst, OH: NCO ratio, type of thinner used and type of Isocyanate used for cross linking were studied by application of the Shainin DOE tools. Presence of the strong catalyst and Low Tg of Acrylic resin used were found to be the most significant factors responsible for poor recoatability performance. The blend of High Tg resin with Low Tg resin in a suitable ratio can give recoatability performance comparable to High Tg resin. The use of a weak catalyst like Zinc Octoate does not affect the recoatability performance of the paint. Note de contenu : - SHAININ DOE TOOLS

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polyesterimides offer a class of resins which combine the advantage of high temperature stability with ease of processability. Polybasic acids separated from gum rosin were treated with amino benzoic acid and then with diethylene glycol to form such polymer. The solubility characteristics, solubility parameters, solution viscosity behaviour, density, crystallinity and thermal properties of these polymers were discussed. Some generalizations about structure-property relationship in polyesterimides were also made. Note de contenu : - PREPARATION OF IMIDODICARBOXYLIC ACID FROM POLYBASIC ACID

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The opportunities for using nuclear processes for the benefit of mankind are numerous as a nearly unlimited source of energy and it finds applications in various fields comprising medicine, biology, chemistry etc. One ofthe peaceful uses of nuclear energy is in the field of analytical chemistry. Development of radioanalytical techniques like neutron activation analysis, isotope dilution methods, tracer techniques and radiography have helped to characterize coating materials and to carry out research in related fields. The methods enjoy advantage like specificity, sensitivity, good accuracy and widespread applicability. Their applications include measurement of water permeability of coatings, determination of plasticizer's retention, adsorption of driers in paints system, measurement of film thickness, uniformity and porosity of paint films. These techniques have been also used in the areas of weathering measurements of emulsion paints and short listing of microbial inhibitors of wood finishes and ionic penetration from paint films. The increasing acceptance of this technique will add a new and powerful tool for practising paint technologist. Note de contenu : - BASIC OF RADIO CHEMISTRY

Borse, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 59-62 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The attack of the bottoms of ships from marine and organisms is as old as the history of shipping itself. Several thousand marine plants and animals attach and grow on bottom surfaces in either fresh or salt water. When an immersed object accumulates a noticeable growth of marine plants and animals, it is said to be fouled. If this growth consists predominantly of barnacles or other hard-shelled animals the fouling can damage the protective coatings and expose the bare metal. As a result severe corrosion of the metallic surface occurs. If this growth on the ship bottom is in the form of long streamers of grass, the ship requires a substantially higher amount of fuel to maintain speed. Subsequently this results in higher operational costs. This growth can be retarded by releasing a substance which is toxic to fouling organisms. To protect the substrate of ship bottom let's come to the point of preparation of the coating materials which act as a barrier against the fouling bacteria, sea animals and planktons. These coatings must contain the pigments, binding media and additives which inhibit these marine organisms. Titre : A new light on UV Inks Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : David Lanska, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 65-68 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Flexographic printing is an evolving process. Through the years, advances in press components have enabled printers to achieve higher levels of quality and visual impact. One of the most notable recent developments is the escalating use of UV inks. Offering significant advantages over water and solvent based inks, UV inks are experiencing explosive growth in the flexographic industry. As industry demands for visual impact increase, printers seek to add color density while preserving or even enhancing image quality. It is the ability of UV inks to positively impact on color density and image quality, while facilitating improvements in printing efficiency that begins to explain its rising popularity. The other and most significant reason for UV's growth is concern over environmental issues. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=12191
