Résumé : |
The manufacture of high quality furniture leather and of leather for the interior trim of automobiles is based on similar technology. That is why many factories which initially specialized in furniture leather have moved into the automotive segment and now either produce both types in parallel or have gone over to making nothing but automotive leather.
Despite this connection, furniture and automotive leather are very different from each other in terms of the requirements they are to meet, which are dictated by fashion and appearance in the one case, and by defined test results in the other. For this reason, it has so far been possible only in exceptional cases to produce both high-quality furniture leather and automative leather using one and the same fatliquoring agent.
Our objective was therefore to develop such a product. We saw confirmation in the fact that automative nowadays shows tendencies to more fashion leather, which call for a fatliquoring agent with a dual performance spectrum. The additional benefit or simpler logistics is incidental.
We shall go on to present our concept and the results obtained, while also highlighting areas which still present problems and where we are working on further improvements. |
