Résumé : |
The selection of wet end dyestuffs affects the technical properties of dyed leather, the toxico-ecological features of the liquid effluents and possibly of the final leather, and the cost of manufacturing the leather and its commercial value.
Three recurring tanners' questions regarding the selection of dyes are addressed :
1. Can I replace a suitable dye by a Color Index equivalent ?
2. How can I be sure that my leathers or the goods made with them will not be prevented from entering Germany ?
3. How can I eliminate the contribution of dyes to the salts content in my post tanning effluents ?
Understanding what is meant by a leather dye is essential to answer these questions. It appears that not only is each dyestuff important, but so too is the manufacturer's commitment and capacity to adapt to industry variables and needs. |
