Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Water thinnable gloss emulsion paint, red oxide primer, washable distemper and metal putty have been formulated and evaluated for their properties. Four alkyd emulsions were used for the investigation. The emulsions were prepared from the alkyd resins based on castor oil, rosin, pentaerythritol, fumaric acid, maleic and phthalic anhydrides. All the formulations have found to be excellentin their film properties, chemical and solvent resistance, stability and scratch hardness. The gloss emulsion paint had excellent gloss. However, today Blanc fixe is gaining more and more the character of an indispensable additive. Key technologies in designing tailor-made Blancfixe grades are adjusted precipitation and physical or chemical secondary treatment to create desired particle sizes ranging from some tenths of a micron down to the nanometers, inorganic coatings or outstanding dispersibility. Bright, high gloss top coats with low haze can be formulated, as well as solvent borne coatings with a very low VOC or E-coats. Very fine grades can stabilise high end qualities against flocculation, rub out and overbaking. Due to their transparency they can be used either in coloured or black systems. Very coarse grades, which are available in cubic shape, can create translucent coverings. Hydroxyethyl derivative of Galactomannan *(HEG) are synthesized by the etherification reaction with nonionic ethylene oxide reagent with Galactomannan gum. Such modification greatly improve some specific properties of unmodified Galactomannan like electrolyte compatibility, stability, solubility, and the rheological characteristics in context to their utilization in waterborne paints. In the present study, various grades of HEG were employed to prepare water based paints. The waterbased paints were also prepared from conventional rheology modifiers based on cellulose derivatives. The comparative study of these reveals very interesting findings in HEG based paints compositions.
