Résumé : |
Pilot validation trials gave results opposite to those from laboratory drum experiments designed to improve Lastometer values of goat skins by varying fatliquor i.e. blank run skins gave higher values than trial runs even on repetition. Also, there was wide variation of Lastometer values within a skin and between batches. These anomalies made us look for a more representative and dependablesampling mode for Lastometer evaluation of goat-skins than the presently prevalent sampling mode from the official area of a skin as a prerequisite for designing Lastometer value improvement work. After a reasonably large number of Lastometer determinations on crust and finished goat skins and data analysis, a new sampling mode which will truly represent the Lastometer property of a skin was identified and confirmed. This new sampling mode on a requisite number of skins for a particular batch size would permit dependable differentiation between batches of skins with different Lastometer values and would help conduct Lastometer improvement work. |
