Résumé : |
After indicating the importance of the inner sole in footwear construction and for the wearer, the paper discusses methods for the vegetable tanning of insole leather by rapid drum powder processes. The production of trial leathers by the Centre Technique du Cuir of Lyon and the tests to which they were subjected are described. Their ability to meet the stringent specifications of the French Army standard and the comfort tests devised by the CTC are then discussed. The paper also describes the results of the testing by CTC of a large range of insole materials currently on the market. Finally, it examines how the findings of the CTC ould be used to provide tanners with simple formulations enabling them to ensure that the leather they produce can meet standards of quality similar to those of the CTC trial leathers. |
