Chemical modification of CNSL and cardanol offer pathways for their utilization in variety of applications in polymers and coatings, driving coating technology towards environmnent-friendly and green technology. CNSL has been widely studied for synthesis and development of epoxy resins, hardeners for epoxies, epoxy diluents applicable in epoxy functional protective coatings. The present review briefs the work done especially in the area of CNSL based epoxy coatings and their thermal, mechanical, chemical and anti-corrosion properties.
