Durable superhydrophobic materials with recyclability, low-temperature resistance, and self-cleaning properties were successfully prepared by employing silica particles and polytetrafluoroethylene via a simple drop-coating method. The as-prepared superhydrophobic materials not only show excellent superhydrophobicity but also display fascinating durability and chemical stability after a series of rigorous tests. Importantly, the debris scraped from the superhydrophobic materials can be recycled and easily reused to prepare new superhydrophobic materials. This facile strategy may pave the way for the scalable and recyclable robust superhydrophobic materials in practical applications. Note de contenu : - Materials

Séparation huile/eauIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, durable superhydrophobic coatings were successfully prepared by modifying montmorillonite with stearic acid and organosiloxane, and this procedure was simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Different from the previously reported methods, the micro-/nanostructures of the superhydrophobic coatings were constructed by using the abundant natural montmorillonite as the building blocks. The surface topography of the coating was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope, while element compositions and functional groups were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively. The as-prepared superhydrophobic coatings showed excellent wear resistance, and could maintain their superhydrophobicity after sandpaper abrasion for 180 cm in length. Apart from the superb wear resistance, the obtained superhydrophobic coatings also displayed strong acid resistance and anti-UV properties. In addition, the as-coated fabric not only possessed superhydrophobicity and the ability of oil–water separation, but also exhibited excellent fire resistance because of the thermal stability of MMT particles. Notably, the favorable comprehensive performance of the as-prepared coatings was indicative of their potential applications in oil/water separation and some harsh conditions, and as outdoor protective materials.

Tannage Résumé : Oxidation using H2O2 brings about degradation of valonia extract. Three typical products with novel properties were obtained when 20%, 40% and 60% H2O2 (conc. 50%) were used. Determinations indicated that the oxidising reaction leads to lowering of molecular weight, lightening of colour, improving of acid and salting-out resistances and increasing of hydrophilic groups, carboxyl in particular. The more interesting results are that penetrating rates of the degraded products in pelt are markedly accelerated and that the alkali resistance of complex compounds of the products and Cr(III) or Al(III) is considerably increased. The effects above are enhanced with increasing offer of H20.The conditions for oxidising degradation are described and the potentials of utilising the products are discussed.
