Oxyde de graphèneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Zinc aluminum hydrotalcite/graphene oxide (HTC-GO) nanohybrid as inhibition additive for organic coatings was prepared using the co-precipitation method. The synthesized HTC-GO was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Surface charge properties of HTC-GO were evaluated with zeta potential measurement. The corrosion inhibition effect of HTC-GO on carbon steel in NaCl solution was investigated using electrochemical methods, energy-dispersive X-ray, and SEM. The effect of HTC-GO on corrosion resistance of epoxy coating applied on carbon steel was evaluated by salt spray test. It was shown that hydrotalcite structures were formed on GO surface, subsequently becoming hydrotalcite/graphene oxide nanohybrid. The results obtained by electrochemical measurements indicate that HTC-GO is an anodic corrosion inhibitor with an inhibition efficiency of about 92% at 1 g/L concentration. The presence of intercalated GO improved the barrier properties and adsorption of HTC-GO on steel surface. The corrosion resistance of epoxy coatings was improved with 1 wt% HTC-GO. Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, zinc aluminum hydrotalcite intercalated with 2-benzothiazolylthio-succinic acid (BTSA) as a container of corrosion inhibitor was prepared and incorporated in an epoxy coating. The HT-BTSA obtained was characterized using infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. BTSA release from HT-BTSA in 0.5 M NaCl solution was investigated using UV–Vis spectroscopy. The corrosion protection performance of the epoxy coating containing HT-BTSA was evaluated and compared to the pure epoxy coating and the epoxy coating containing HT by cathodic disbonding test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, salt spray test, and adhesion measurement. It was shown that the BTSA was intercalated in hydrotalcite and its loading was about 33.5%. The BTSA release from HT-BTSA increased with the pH of the NaCl solution. It was also shown that the presence of HT or HT-BTSA in epoxy coating improved the resistance to cathodic disbonding and the adhesion of the epoxy coating. Corrosion protection performance of epoxy coating containing HT-BTSA was higher than that of epoxy coating containing HT.
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, synthesized magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were treated with a corrosion inhibitor, indole-3 butyric acid (IBA) and incorporated in an epoxy-polyamide coating. The coating was applied on a carbon steel substrate. For comparison, coatings without particles or with nontreated Fe3O4 particles were also prepared. The IBA-modified nanomagnetite (IBA–Fe3O4) was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and Zeta potential measurements. The inhibitive action of IBA was shown by electrochemical measurements (polarization curves) performed for a bare carbon steel in 0.1 M NaCl solution containing Fe3O4 or IBA–Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Adherence and anticorrosion properties of the epoxy-based coatings containing Fe3O4 or IBA–Fe3O4 were compared to those of the pure epoxy-polyamide resin by dry and wet adherence measurements and by salt spray test. The results showed significant improvement of the film adherence and higher corrosion protection of the carbon steel in the presence of IBA–Fe3O4. It was concluded that the IBA effect was restricted to the metal/coating interface. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This study aims to prepare antibacterial coatings based on polyurethane and curcumin-modified graphene oxide. Curcumin-modified graphene oxide (GO-CU) as an antibacterial agent was prepared using the adsorption method. GO-CU was incorporated in polyurethane (PU) coatings at concentrations of 0.1 and 0.5 wt%. Synthesized GO-CU was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, transmission scanning electron microscopy, and zeta potential measurement. Curcumin content in GO-CU was determined by thermogravimetric analysis. Antibacterial properties of GO-CU powder and PU coatings containing GO-CU were investigated by counting the colony-forming unit (CFU) of Escherichia coli (E. coli) strain. The results showed that curcumin was attached on GO-CU surface and curcumin content in GO-CU was about 32.9%. GO-CU provided a higher antibacterial effect against E. coli than GO. The antibacterial efficiency of PU coatings containing 0.1 wt% GO-CU was 85.8%; however, the increase in GO-CU concentration did not significantly increase the antibacterial efficiency of PU coating.

SilanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Zinc aluminum hydrotalcite intercalated with molybdate (HTM) and modified by 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (HTM-GS) was prepared and incorporated into a waterborne epoxy coating. The synthesized HTM-GS was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, and TEM. The inhibitive action of HTM-GS on carbon steel was evaluated using electrochemical measurement and SEM/EDX analysis. The corrosion protection of the waterborne epoxy coating containing HTM-GS was evaluated and compared to that of the pure waterborne epoxy coating and the waterborne epoxy coating containing HTM by salt spray test and adhesion measurement. It was shown that the molybdate was intercalated in the hydrotalcite structure and the molybdate contents in HTM and HTM-GS were 16.0 and 13.2 wt%, respectively. The polarization curves obtained on the carbon steel electrode showed that HTM and HTM-GS are anodic corrosion inhibitors, and their inhibition efficiencies at concentration of 3 g/l were 92.0 and 94.7%, respectively. Additionally, HTM and HTM-GS at concentration of 0.5 wt% improved corrosion resistance and adhesion of waterborne epoxy coatings. Surface modification by 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane ameliorated the dispersion of HTM in epoxy matrix and the effect of HTM on protection properties of waterborne epoxy coating.
